  • Strategies in Caedarva Mire

I'm new to Caedarva Mire, only partied a few times there....just curious what kinda strategies or parties work best around there. I learned quickly that Echo Drops are a must with the Imps. We partied the other night with a few Dragoons, Red Mage and my Bard, party was absolutly sick and we racked a ton of XP in a short amount of time...

My buddy who plays hardcore told me DRG parties do well there because flying mobs are weak to piercing, so I'm curious what other kinda strategies do you find useful for clearing an area in a short amount of time with Imps/Jnuns/etc

    thx,

    Z

As a bard you'll want to master the ability to pull multiple imps and keep them slept in a queue when there's a lot of competition around.

Thanks for the reply...I have a lotta trouble sticking Lullaby on Imps with the Light Staff...what will increase that chance of sleeping them?

Just about any job that doesn't rely too heavily on JAs will work in the Mire. THFs and DNCs to come mind as jobs that are really hurt by Amnesia.

            { What is the Battle Plan? }

Answer: Kill the (w)imp before it kills you.

            (ok... I am just joking)

If done correctly, those Imps should die very quickly, like you should only see 1 or 2 Provoke fires off in a battle, and the imp drop dead before the imp can do much harm to your party.

Or, if done incorrectly, the battle drags on and the Imp keep spamming Amnesia, AoE silence ... and the worst part... Sleepga II then follow up with AoE Nuke (like Firaga III?) or sleep the entire/majority of the party and kill off the party one member at a time.

For tanks, PLD has the advantage on Imps (assume that PLD's mindset is correct), even if the role of the tank is just to hold Imp for a short time until the Imps dies. This only apply those PLD that knows to use Cures on whoever needs it.... and put effort on enmity + damage output because there will be times which JA and spells cannot be used.

As for DNC vs Imps, I have partied with DNC that can main heal the entire frontline with just Drain Samba II alone. The 1st DNC I partied is 2 weeks after WotG release, when the 1st wave of JP DNC reach level 70 and I was there in Mire and Nzyl Island Imp camp exp-ing with those DNCs. The key is keep those mob coming, instead of wasting time and let the Samba wears off.

On the other hand PUP have deep trouble with Amnesia. PUP cannot even order the automation to engage the mob when Amnesia carry over to the next battle. Automation that does not engage the mob does nothing.

Overall /THF or THF sneak-attack/trick-attack timer really screwed by Amnesia.

If imps runs out... pulling a fly or Jnun mix-in is okay, but not a series of flies.

Smns get screwed over by Imps too, they can't send their avatars to attack *or* send them away to rest MP.

But overall I'd say make sure you have a good camp, make sure you're not overhunting (IT++ Imps SUCK HARD) and make sure they die in 60 seconds or less.

As for sticking Lullaby, as suggested before, Apollos and Mary's Horn, but also a few extra lvls and capped skills couldn't hurt. Imps are weaker to Lullaby then sleep so it shouldn't be too hard to do once you get more skill.

cool, sounds like I need to acquire an Apollo's staff then. Yea, Caedarva is kinda tricky b/c when you're pulling mobs back, you occasionally get the links from more Imps with quick pop times which can be good or bad I guess (bad if you can't Lullaby them lol) True-Sight mobs suck. My wind/singing is capped currently but my string is lacking quite heavily...

real quick while we're talking about Caedarva, we've been doing Imps/Jnuns at 64-66, what should we move onto next? flies? treants? seems like we can stay here till 70 so I thought I'd ask...ppl tell me just kill everything in sight lol

Flies suck. Their AoE slows down fast chains. Just stick with imps until you're high enough for Greater Colibri.
