  • Accuracy Question

I have a quick question regarding accuracy caps. I've looked around the forums for a bit, and I'm still not finding any definitive answer, so please forgive me if I missed it.

How exactly do you determine that you are "at the accuracy cap?" My initial thoughts were, to determine the level of the mob (roughly, in some cases), and assume it has A+ evasion. Then using the FFXI Calculator punch those values in, along with your (the player's) Dex, +acc, and food (as applicable).

I did this for my Warrior levelling recently (43-47), and I was figuring that I had ~91% Accuracy. I used tentacle sushi, and of course this put me well over the 95% cap. I don't use any parsers to verify this, but I'm thinking that there must be a way to determine your gear/food choices prior to beginning a party.

Thanks for any advice/help in advance.

    Re: Accuracy Question

I'd say anything over 90% accuracy is acceptable. Anything over that is sort of overkill unless it's a huge bump to ACC (i.e. eating sushi).

A lot depends on what you're fighting, too. Some enemies are naturally more evasive than others, so make sure you factor that in.

      Re: Accuracy Question

I've heard there is a cap to +acc equipment the same as there is a cap for +eva equipment. how can you calculate that cap? For accuracy i'm sure the formula has something to do with the characters dex (base + equipment modifiers.) i know you can't just keep stacking on +acc equipment, eventually you reach your maximum.

Ah, allow me to clarify. My question is actually:

How do you determine the mobs evasion? e.g. Determine the mob's lvl and give it A+ Eva skill?

I was doing that before, and it seemed to work, but I want to be sure of the method.

I apologize if I didn't make it clear before

Most mobs will not have anything near A rank evasion, only ones that are of the THF job. The most commonly used way to determine a mob's evasion is to find your own Accuracy, then play around with different gear until you find the exact Accuracy value where the mob goes from 'Seems to have high evasion' to no evasion message when you /check them.

IIRC when you reach that point you are 10 Acc from being even with their evasion(it may be more, I don't remember it off the top of my head, it may be 30, I get the offset from high > even and even > low mixed up). You add that amount to your Accuracy and that is their Evasion.

More accurately there is a 95% cap on hit rate. How much accuracy is needed to reach that cap varies by the level and Evasion of the mob.
