    The thread @ http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/par...something.html

    got me wondering about something.

Can an allience of 3 partys 18 people gain exp?

Would they have to go to harder areas sooner or stay where they normally lv?

Alliances are not recommended for XP.

In FFXI, the amount of XP awarded by monsters has a multiplier applied based on the number of people in the party. Beyond 6 members, however, the multiplier stops growing, so you're basically earning the same total XP as 6 players would, but split up more than 6 ways.

In fact, alliances have a lower exp multiplier than a party of 6.

Multiplier for 6 people is .35 ....... so any more people and you'll end up getting how much xp you should get if you divide it out, then past that point, the experience goes to hell.

          Re: Allience EXP

Once upona time some friends of mine and I got exp in a seven person alliance. In Boyhda Tree, if I recall correctly. I don't even remember why we did it, but I think it had something to do with needing a reliable trick partner, but not wanting to lose a static party member. It worked out pretty well, but it was just one exp session.

I wouldn't recommend it on a regular basis though, but with friends who are willing to try things out it's worth taking a stab at it, I guess.

Exactly. Alliances weren't made for exping in this game. They were made for fighting things that you otherwise wouldn't be able to defeat with a 6-man party.

I've been xping with 7 occasionally at Mt Zhaylom for merits - but it really is just with friends - someone else happened to pop on and said any room for me? Xp isn't too gimp, but it is a noticable difference. But those parties are more fun than serious xp (though we do rip things apart fast...)

Well, you can leave the dunes earlier, even in a six man party. Check out Campsitaurus for some examples!

Just... Good luck trying to get a party to not level in the Dunes.

If you get a static or look for more seasoned players then you probably have a better chance of not ending up there. I've heard great things about Maze of Shakrami and Korroloka Tunnel. I don't know about the later levels, but leveling on worms early on is almost a joke. I guess as they get stronger and get more levels of stonega that they become less worth the xp effort.

Also, if you want you can usually leave Dunes as early as level as 18. Though if you're a melee you can have a pretty tough time finding a party in Qufim.

I'm a lv 19 White, so maybe I can go to Quim if I can get there.
