Yeah I think its a problem with the general population who are now working on their 2nd or 3rd jobs. Like some said above, exp becomes a chore when you're working through the same zones over and over. If thats the case I don't understand why they wouldn't want to try something different, surely that would make it more interesting.

Well that's probably because of what I said, they had enough parties to "try things out", they just want exp, not "fun".

I see your point and yes I can understand the need for exp being greater than their willingness to have some fun. What I don't understand was their sheer stubbornness to accept that it worked better when I changed it.

On a side note. I like your avatar Neo. Do you perhaps have a full sized version of it?

I can imagine, especially after 3 jobs at level 75 like you say, and level a lower leveled job, you just want exp and not dumb try-out things anymore. Though, I think if you're a so cool lv75, you should atleast be bothered to help a noob with things, and explain stuff. But yes, if he doesn't even care how well he does, kicking or leaving is appropriate.
1 - Making fun of someone for playing a video game that you play = automatic loss, no matter what you're arguing. I'm not going to get into a flame battle about RL activities because frankly I don't care enough to.

2- Why should people have to hold other's hands through a game where there is a -huge- resource of knowledge available on the internet? Sorry but when I started playing I didn't have high level players to hold my hands through everything. I got L1 with my static, got sky with a group of people my level, all AF done with my LS mates (when I was the highest in the LS).

Simple fact of the matter is that I've noticed that many of these new players would much rather sit in Jeuno shouting for hours then complain that no 75 will help them, then to strap on a pair and get it done the way it was meant to.

Once again, please don't try to say that because someone has 3 level 75 jobs they have no life. I've been playing for over 2 years now, it would be expected I would think to have more than one job @ 75.

Re: Please give things a chance

there are more high level, high ranked noobs in this game then ever before. 2 years ago, high level and high rank actually meant something. now, even monkeys have high levels/ranks. It don't mean squat.

            Thanks Yyg!

The same can be said for alot of the seasoned players too. They will sit around in Jeuno waiting for a cookie-cutter party to go do missions etc. The fact that people won't even attempt Divine Might without an army of blms is sad.

When ToAU came out I unlocked Cor, it cost me 5-6k in exp on my rdm doing so because I didn't have a map nor a clue what new mobs aggroed to what (damn true sight imps) but I persevered with it none the less. What did I find when I finally got back to Whitegate? A 73 blm shouting for a party to come help him unlock Cor.

I hate the hand-holding mentality that seems to have set in but there seems to be little we can do about it.

Re: Please give things a chance

Just a small thing that is still bothering me about this. The rdm, who the party turned on and forced to warp and logout, hasn't taken the red cape I sent him yet. I sent it right after I left the party so its been in his inbox for 2-3 days now. Also I ran a search for him a yesterday and this morning but haven't found him online yet, which is a shame because I wanted to speak to him and tell him what a good job he was doing.

I'm not jumping to conclusions here because it has only been a couple of days but wouldn't it be a shame if a nice, courteous new player has been scared off by these idiots.

Any good drk knows that capped G.Axe is indeed a better weapon for drk till about mid to late 40s. Mabey as high as low 50s depending. I'm sorry those idiots ruined what could have been a good party.

Elitest HNM Players = [No thanks.]
I'd walk away too. It's those kind of people who just don't make a game fun. Heck, there are even elitests who won't help anyone but their pals on quests because they are that tight. I've been flipped off when asking to do GK1, GK2, and GK3--only to try to solo them. It was nasty.
Still stuck on CoP 3-3. I'm getting tells and shouts that I can solo the 3-3 Antlion. So I try. get its HP down and BOOM, it goes back to the sand and recovers. Soon i'm overwhelmed and I get killed.

                    About the hand holding thing...
Some people just don't want to help at all. I know that a lot of quests, being a Taru, I can't do alone (unless I was way too high for it). Part of it requires me to get a Lamia Fang, and by no means can I solo a Lamia.
Almost four years experience playing FFXI. I am a Raccoon, not a Hyena--despite my name states I am one.

Get creative and pretend these happened.

For the antlion... Bind is awesome. Although I don't really see a WHM soloing it easily anyway. Also, you don't need to kill a lamia to get a lamia key. There's a ??? you can talk to that gives you a key.

Re: Please give things a chance

Very few of the CoP missions that involve fighting can be solo'd at level 65. A couple can be solo'd at 75, but that's about it.

As for people not helping you - this is what linkshells and friends are for. If you haven't developed at least a loose network of friends and acquaintances by level 65, then I don't know what to tell you except maybe you should socialize a bit more...

I just hope that he forgets them and gets on with enjoying the game. I sent him a red cape to hopefully cheer him up.
Well something came good of it then ^^ Aww shucks, that is so kind! I'm sure it'll do more than cheer him up, it'll make his day ^^

Re: Please give things a chance

am one of those people who would first leave or kick someone before wasting my time explaining why you should have a fully leveled sub, or why you shouldn't be subbing NIN pre 50, or why you should learn how to SC properly.
                            Agreed.

As far as I am concerned, the dunes is the place to learn your job, and up to lvl 50 is the time to experiment with what works and what doesn't work with gear and food. But I don't want to be explaining something basic like, how to make a SC, how to MB, how to tank, etc.

If the player is just having a bad day and can't make the SC every now and then, that's fine, if they don't even know what a SC is, that's another thing.

But meh, those jerks in your party are the same people who say that a spear using warrior in valkurm is gimp >.>

You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.

I don't have a big ego, it just has a large mouth.

Queen, I'm sorry for your bad experience. It's unfortunate how most players can be. All you can do is shrug it off and possibly (up to you) BList them. I definately wouldn't party with them again after such an event. Like neighbortaru said, there are many high level/ high rank noobsout there.

Yeah, I used to look for fellow high level people when I had a new job at Valkurm Dunes. Now I don't even bother anymore looking for those.
