Is it possible to have a Party with all 6 starting Jobs at lv 1?

    White Mage (Cure)
    Red Mage (Dia)
    Black Mage (Stone)
    Monk
    Warrior
    Thief

Just think it would be interesting to try.

Would the roles be the same as in a high lv party?

while it is possible, and potentialy fun, some of the jobs, mnk and rdm come to mind, might actually be slowed down for their first like 10 lvls or so. But might be a fun project to do with friends

As far as "roles" the rdm picks up a more melee type roll since support is limited by mp and spell selection, and it also depends on sub jobs, imo.

Sure. Actually at that lvl some job roles are a bit different.

Rdms until 20s or so are DDs on par with Wars. So you'd have them in the fray rather than sitting back like later levels.

Thf would also act as a DD, prob use a sword until later lvls where dagger WSs really shine

Blm, whm, mnk and war pretty much the same.

Also remember that at level 1, Warrior doesn't have provoke. Whm might be tanking at that level. :p

I could see turning this idea into a fun little Linkshell event. Twelve entries, drawn into two teams, all at level one...unleash both teams into a lowbie zone, and the first team to ding 5 across the board shares a gil jackpot, or somesuch. Worth thinking about. Of course, you'd have to regulate Selbina Milk usage, among other things...

          I'd be very interested to see how long a lvl. 1 WHM mana pool lasts against IT Ronfaure sheep. oO;

Glad I gave you the idea.

if you do it, tell me if your team wins.

No Provoke at lvl 1 = dead WHM no matter what x_x

I did something similar with friends, but we started at level 10. WAR, BLM, WHM, RDM, THF, and MNK who later became DRK. It worked out pretty ok, but as mentioned, a WAR without provoke during those early levels often means that WHM or BLM or MNK would end up tanking.

And also, it's really almost counter-productive to group that early, becuase you're just slowing yourself down and missing out on drops that way.

How about a Milkburn party using minimal cures? Would that work? You'd have a few equipment slots empty, should be able to carry a few stacks of milk...

If this experiment was done. What could they fight to even make it worth while, but not cause death?

                      Re: Curious About Something

Maybe you're looking at it wrong. I've considered something I call "AOE EXP" for low levels.

Basically, at level 1, any job can solo a bumblebee for 50 exp. I seem to remember grouping with a noob at level 1 just so I could show him around, and we each soloed a bee and each got 50 exp...from each bee. Total 100 exp, twice what I would have gotten alone.

Theoretically, then, 6 level ones equals 300 exp for one round of everyone fighting their own bee, all very close together. Doesn't that give us level 2, full HP and MP?

Now, we each fight a mandragora, for 75 EXP across the board (IF I remember all these things correctly, which is about the same as the likelihood that someone on these boards will get kidnapped by an alien as they read this post.)

That's 450 EXP. Seems to me like that gets us level 3. Rinse and repeat on rabbits (or maybe one more round on mandragoras). And keep cranking without a need to stop and rest up till level 8 or so.

Now there's only two problems that I see with this setup.

                      A. mob density isn't high enough. Although West Saruta is pretty dang close. I know i've seen 6 bees and 6 mandys there in close enough formation to at least make an attempt

                      B. I dont' REMEMBER getting EXP penalized for being in a group, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Six bees at a time for fifty exp each is worthwhile....but for fifteen exp each, it is not.

But EXP IS an AOE effect. perhaps SE made it that way for a reason? If I was to try out low-level grouping, it would be to experiment with this method.

                          Re: Curious About Something

If a single level 1 kills a bee for 50 exp, then that bee, when killed with 2 people in a party, is worth only 30 exp per person. However, 60 (2x30) is still better than 50. *grins* (The same bee in a party of 6 is worth only 17-18 exp per person)

                            Re: Curious About Something

the thing is the speed that 6 people can kill the bee or even 4 people... have the rdm and the thf both pull at the same time and xp would be as fast or faster than soloing...

now if you can get a group of people together and create a full alliance, then boot out everyone but the pt leaders, you could gain more xp than normal with 3 people in a pt
it wasn't me... no wait... it was.
