static party help?

currently our party setup at 30 is looking like this:

NIN/WAR/THF/RDM/WHM

Couple questions:

1. Is having a white mage overkill? with a ninja past 37 he won't be taking a whole lot of damage right? We could have the RDM sub whm for the -na line. What should we replace the whm with, BRD/COR/???

2. What should we do for a 6th? I was thinking of BLM but I'm not sure.

My static for SMN was almost the exact same set up. We had NIN/WAR/THF/RDM/BLM/SMN


My experience as the SMN who was main healing, for the most part, yes the NIN, at times took little to no damage per fight. Other times, he took damage no matter what. Things got easier as he got more experience post-37, but there are times when that NIN is going to take damage. (Can I say here that I hate goblin rush!!! Wiped his 3 shadows every time!!)

Also at later levels, if you don't have that WHM main, there will be some things you may choose not to level on due to not having the WHM status spells. A RDM/WHM won't have access to Viruna if you choose to go kill Raptors in Valley of Sorrows, /WHM won't have access to Stona if you go kill lizzy's in Den of Rancor. These are challenges my static accepted and actually enjoyed. We found many places to xp where there was no competition for mobs, and we got to enjoy not being in any of the "norm" places.

As for WHM being overkill... Are you and your static willing to carry reraise items in case of death? Are you and your static willing to take raise 1 when you die?

I ask these questions because yes, death happens. A lot of people would rather have a WHM in their party for the raise 2 and after 70 raise 3. Our static didn't mind it much, we would rather chain VT's almost nonstop than fight some IT+++++ that wiped us all out. On the rare occasion someone died, they'd take the raise 1, we'd get the xp back in no time.

As to which job to choose as your 6th member. I'd say it depends on what your static wants to do. Do you want that BLM for enfeebs and MB's, for stun when you're playing with gobbies? Would you rather have the BRD for the support he can give the melee? (Forgive me here if my BRD comment is off, my BRD experience is very, very small.)
