  • A new party setup

well first off, i'm sorry if this has been discussed before but would a party that consisted of
    thf/nin (SATA #1)
    thf/nin (SATA #2)
    thf/nin (SATA #3)
    thf/nin (SATA #4)
nin/war (or pld/war or war/nin)something with provoke (Tank)
    whm/blm (whm/smn, whm/blm) a healer (Healer)

now this party will only be effective in the later levels of the game such as 35+ or somthing like that

the 4 thf/nin all have SATA

the setup of the group will be
    (diagram)
    X(SATA #1)
    X(SATA #2)
    0(mob)
    X(Tank)
    (SATA#4)
    (SATA#3)

    X(healer)

    Fighting Sequence
    1) somebody pulls (up to group)
    2) mob appears the (tank) uses 'Provoke' on an enemy
    3) SATA #1 uses SATA on SATA #2 after provoke
    4) SATA #3 uses SATA on SATA #4 10-15 seconds after SATA #1 uses theirs
    5) SATA #2 & SATA #1 switch spots so SATA #2 uses SATA on SATA #1 15 seconds after
    6) SATA #4 & SATA #3 switch spots so SATA #4 uses SATA on SATA #3 15 seconds after
    7) Tank provokes again and restart the fighting sequence at #3

the reason i want to have them wait 15 seconds between each SATA is so that
    15sec +15sec +15sec +15sec = 1min and that's the cooldown of a SATA

so every 15seconds a SATA can be used

the whm just heals whenever becuz the thf/nin should keep up shadows
(the shadows can be casted after a SATA combo becuz the SATA should keep switching hate)

and hopefully with this setup it should deal alot of damage and hopefully the whm won't have to heal alot and this equals less downtime

    post your replies!
tonite or sometime tomorrow i plan to get a group of thf's to test this setup

Fidgetaru40whm/20blm (Seraph server) is my name if some1 wants to try it.

    Re: A new party setup

The only issue I could think of would be that all your damage is Spiked. So you'll have 1 fast fight, then 1 looooooooooooooooooooong fight for the THF's to build tp. SATA+Viper is great for spike damage in a pt, but without the constant dps from standard DD's, the fights are going to be fairly drawn out. It sounds like a good theory, I wouldn't knock it before I saw it in action. Let us know how it works out.

Russta runs with a 4 THF/nin + BRD + ?? setup for some of his CoP activities. perhaps he'll drag himself away from the BG forums long enuf to chime in on his particular experiences

      Thanks Yyg!

Yeah, one thing to keep in mind. Double Minuet will turn any job into a fairly decent DD. Especially with DW.

So this is a Lv.40 party, right? I can kinda see the idea here. A well geared THF at that level can SATA for 250dmg? So ever 15 seconds you dump 250dmg on the mob. I can see that. One THF could Skillchain with the NIN for a big Distortion, but can the other THFs Skillchain together? Or just fire off big Viper Bites for damage, and not sweat the Skillchain since there's no BLM to MB?

Interesting concept, but you'll probably need LS members to try this out. I can't imagine a NIN would go along with this. Of course the THFs would be excited to try it for the most part.

oh you're doing this at 40! didn't see that.
you might have problems with keeping shadows up. recast on ichi is hella slow >.< but if everyone is good with their counting (get the full 6 shadows) then it might be ok.
as intensity said, let us know how it works out.

                  Re: A new party setup

I was thinking about this as well. However I was thinking more along the lines of at 74+ for merit points exp

                  {EDIT}
Guess I should explain my idea while I'm here. Basically my idea was 2 THF/NIN and 2THF/SAM, 1 BRD, 1 WHM. WHM is mainly for stona, silena, and some cures everynow and then.

                  A: THF/NIN
                  B: THF/NIN
                  C: THF/SAM
                  D:THF/SAM

                  Formation is somewhat like this:

                  D----A-----monster-----B-------C

Basically you have either A or B pull so they keep the hate for the short amount of time for the D or C NIN to SATA + WS onto either A or B. Then it's just bouncing SA /TA/orSATA back and forth onto A and B. THF C and D have /SAM SJ so they should be gaining TP fast enough.

I was also thinking this because of SS like these. . .

                  http://staronionbrigade.com/weeee/de/de04.jpg

Since what you fight at lvl 74-75 is basically VTs that damage might be possible along with the BRD (which replaces you having to SJ /WAR for that kind of DMG).

Another benefit I saw from this is THFs are able to train their evasion ^^ Plus, I believe they have the highest evasion in game (NIN comming in 2nd if I'm not mistaken) and at 74 they will have access to Utsusemi: Ni.
