Re: Is it mean to kick someone because...

The other difference is that you have less overall MP, and you lose access to Divine Seal/Elemental Seal, Status Removal Spells, Drain/Aspir, etc.

Every spell you cast will show up in the chat log. If your party can't be bothered to read that, then you need to find another party. By putting the spell you're casting in /P you're essentially telling them AGAIN that you just cast a spell.

Re: Is it mean to kick someone because...

I agree with the /p chat macros. I really don't need to see when a mage is casting any sort of spell... especially WHM's and their "Raise" macro... why do I want to see that?

The only time *I* use a /p chat macro is my TP and WS macros when I'm involved in a skillchain. Even still, the MNK and I have been in static together for a while now where we don't even use WS macro anymore, just TP.

But with no mention whatsoever of Aka's sub before they set out, what else was he to do but assume that the subjob he had was perfectly fine?

Especially when a NIN/WHM is also in the party. >.<
If I was in that pt leader's shoes, not noticing the subs of party members would be my fault, and I wouldn't have kicked Aka for showing up with a sub not conforming to my preferences.

However, once I make my preferences known, if I get insulted for it, I would have no qualms kicking that member. The cookie cutter comment was an insult directed at the party leader. It's one thing to offer support for your non-traditional sub (e.g. "the NIN was subbing WHM, so I figured being able to voke would help the pt). But that's not what happened.

I remember once back in the dunes, this RNG was lv 16 and was using a self-bow and wooden arrows.....

And then another time in Bhaflau, again a RNG was using lowbie ammo (Iron arrows wtf. This guy had all kinds of insanely expensive armor and even the lv 50 +1 bow, but he was shooting iron arrows WTF? Scorpians don't cost much...)

I agree with the RDM thing, but for the most part you have to see how the person plays first, unless their gear/spells are way too outdated (as in the above)

Now see what you would do in this situation.

So i get an invite as RDM in Woodlands.

Turn up, ldr (taru RDM) moans at me for not having all the AF i should have. i was wearing my full RSE becuase as elvaan it gives me more MP than my AF boots or gloves. I would rather have that than +10 Parrying or +10 Shield in a pt.

So i explain that to him, and he's like i wont kick you but you're gimp. You are wearing lvl 27-33 gear.

So i again explain that i would rather wear this RSE, it doesnt have as much DEF but i shouldnt be getting hit anyway.

I wish people would stop looking at the lvl of gear and start looking at stats - what matters.

I still see 75s using RSE for certain slots cause its the best of what you can get and not everyone can get AF easily or the expensive RSE from BCNMs
And most people have fun gear to wear while not fighting anything. I'm not nit picky on gear unless it severly hurts the pty, e.g.) pld using lvl 1 rse body to tank with in a merit party against Skoffins.
Also I know how hard it is to get some of the fancy gear, so I'm not gonna spaz out if someone doesn't have Koegin or a RDM w/o Duelist gear.

Red Mages who wear full AF make me a sad taru. There isn't any reason to wear anything but the body and the hat in a normal exp party. Everything else gives a negligible benefit for those slots (although the pants aren't terrible, I suppose) that you can easily surpass with other gear.

                  Just ignore the idiots.

Re: Is it mean to kick someone because...

I love how people judge you before you even do your job. I mean using a level 20 headgear when you're 40 is one thing, but wearing Leather Armor in Eastern Altepa Desert is another. Which is worse? Depends on the job, yes. I would never want to party with anyone, any job, wearing level 7 gear in a level 35-ish zone. Except maybe a cape, I suppose. But it would definitely be worse for a tank to be wearing level 7 than for a mage to be. Not that it's really excusable that a mage can't bother to equip him/herself properly.

But using something like, I don't know ... my black silk neckerchief, which gives a fair amount of INT, doesn't seem so bad, does it? Hell, since I still can't afford that damned enfeebling torque, I'm still wearing the neckerchief. (I haven't leveled in so long ... /cry ...) And as of yet, no one has called me gimp because of it.

Would I wear level 20 body armor? Not unless I were doing a level 20 cap event. But the main pieces of gear - body, hands, legs, and feet, to me, are more important than some of the other stuff you have on. I'm not concerned with what mantle you have on, for example. When I'm WHM, though, I sure love every last bit of defense you can put on your body because it saves me some MP.

I don't know, I remember earlier in this thread (a while ago) I said something about judging people by their gear ... well I've mellowed on that a bit. As long as you do your job, that's what it all comes down to. If chains are slower because your gimp-ass gear is making us have to heal you more, damn straight I'm gonna complain. But if you're a few levels behind on that piece of body armor, as long as we're getting some decent xp and having a good time, who am I to bitch?

I kept a lot of 20-30 gear on until AF (well, not a lot, but some). Mostly because my RSE was somewhat useless to me as a RDM, and because the bonuses on certain pieces really couldn't be beat for a long time.

Re: Is it mean to kick someone because...

A lot of players don't even know what is decent gear for a particular job because they haven't leveled that job (or perhaps haven't leveled it high enough). But for some reason, that doesn't stop them from making hasty conclusions and rude comments regarding gear.

I was in a party in Caedarva Mire as a lvl 67 (or maybe 68) WAR. The NIN in our party checked my gear, and I happened to be using Darksteel Axe +1 and a TM Espadon +1. He asked me, "Do you have any better weapons?"

He didn't ask if I had any particular weapon on me. He didn't even say whether he had a problem with my Axe choice, or my off-hand Sword choice. I can only conclude that he saw that my weapons were 10+ levels below me, and therefore must be gimped. This is in spite of the fact that both weapons I was using have very respectable DPS and are only marginally beaten by R/EX, NM dropped weapons at that level range.
