I would rather not a bad apple sour and ruin a great party. Any jerkface that decides that they're going to do something to endanger our current party, gets a boot.

That might even mean our party might have to disband; nevertheless, all is for the better.

I would rather save lives from unnecessary death than to ignorantly keep our heads in fire.

In Wajaom Woodlands when fighting Colibri it is entirely possible to fight safely with only five members. There are other areas where it is safe to XP with only five members. Usually it's just a continuation of the xp while we are looking for a replacement, but it's still much more fun to rub it in the face of the guy that sucks.

        Yup.

I sorta wish that there was a way to kinda like...
        Rate players.

So that when you kick that horrible whitemage,
        Or that irresponsible ninja,
That they don't get invites as quickly as you booted them.

I am...Absolutely astonished...at how many idiotic players progressed much faster than I seemed to.

That LV 50 DRK who refused to SC is LV 75 now.
But there aren't any good Endgame LSes that will accept him.

Re: Is it mean to kick someone because...

Don't have a ton of time to read all this thread (I'll come back to it though).

However, I want to really back the OP in booting people.

There is acceptable stuff, like not having the absolute leet gear. A THF doesn't need to have Leaping/Winged boots and an Emp's Pin to stay in my party. However, if they are wearing daggers that are level 10 at level 50, or has no ranged to pull... buhbye.

Mages are a different creature. They don't always wear gear near their level. I wore Seer's most of my BLM career, only swapping to AF. At that time, there just was not a lot out there. I think I got a body piece or two, but spent most of my time in Seer's due to resting. If Baron's Slops were around then, I'd have kept them straight to AF.

However, these WHM's/SMN's in fishing gear/Yakuto will ALWAYS get a boot from me, regardless of level. You contribute nothing like that. You're an aggro target and you're wearing the equivalent of wet paper towels...

Same goes for tanks with no armor. I've tanked in "gimpy" armor before as NIN and WAR. However, for WAR I made it CLEAR I was geared for DD way before I accepted the invite. They were desperate and I wasn't picky. They accepted my gear limitation and I wound up holding hate better than the other WAR/NIN they had.

The NIN has gimpy gear now (I feel it is, though it's not bad I guess). THAT job I play with the same 3 people and they sincerely could care less. They know my time to play is limited and I am managing the best I can to keep pace. However, I do have to say that I'm not THAT bad off armor-wise. (Level 51, still wearing the checkerboard, going for the new set @ 55 with the +acc/+eva, so trying to stretch a lil further due to the slow gear resale market currently).

Maybe it was the "cookie cutters" comment that got you the boot.

Re: Is it mean to kick someone because...

I have no pity for you. You came to a party as RDM/WAR. What did you expect? You didn't get the party's approval first, you didn't warn them, you just sort of forced it upon them. I'll grant you that there's not much magically for a RDM to do against Colibris(he may as well melee a bit), that was just silly.

                  I can't say I'm surprised at the leader's decision.

Re: Is it mean to kick someone because...

Thing is, lfp as that job combo, lead said nothing about changing it. Leader = one who has to invite, there by should make calling on job combos when making invites before arriving to camp as in checking everyones and sending /tells or stating in /party to change it not until realzing after the fact the fight has started. And also failed to take into account drk/thf needs someone to first voke to make full use of SATA for hate control. He obviously cookied cutter it based on main jobs. And if he kicked from me saying that then he obviously knew i had a point from that statement and kicked out of spite.

Re: Is it mean to kick someone because...

I have to agree with Akashimo here. If the party leader had taken the time to notice before they set out for camp that he was subbing WAR and if he had at least asked him to change then he would have been justified in kicking him after they got to camp. But with no mention whatsoever of Aka's sub before they set out, what else was he to do but assume that the subjob he had was perfectly fine?

Especially when a NIN/WHM is also in the party. >.<

I don't understand what the party leader means when he says "What you did wasn't funny." Did he mean you voking? Or did he mean that you had a different sub than is normal?

I guess if you wanted to stay in the party you could have changed your sub, but any party leader who would invite you without first noticing and then requesting you change it BEFORE you guys started fighting probably shouldn't be trusted so it was most likely for the best.

Though RDM/WAR isn't as horrible as folks make it out to be ... (evil grin!) ... very few people are tolerant of it.

I don't have to agree with anyone, and I certainly don't agree with Akashimo. You know what your job is for, and how to use it. Seek on the appropriate sub, or ask the party leader which sub they would like you to use when they invite you. It's not anyone's fault but your own when you get to an exp party with a gimp combo (and RDM/WAR in an exp party IS gimp).

                          Also, your macros are awful.

I'm not 100% positive about kicking a RDM for /WAR, but spamming the party with /p on every spell?! Bang, zoom, straight to the moon!

                            Bamboo shadows sweep the stars,
                            yet not a mote of dust is stirred;
Moonlight pierces the depths of the pond,
leaving no trace in the water.

To be fair, he only cast two spells during that fight that we saw in /p. But still, stop telling the party things that they can read for themselves in the chat log!

Only reason I have those sucky macros for 1) So people know what enfeelbes I'm doing incase they want me to change for whatever reason and 2) So to reduce the likely hood of getting "refresh mez" or "Haste!@" or "Dispel". For enfeebles its on the first casting only. Recast if it resists or wears off if more than 25% of its hp i just manually type it in just so it doesn't block my refresh /echo macro. Timing is key
Another note, only major difference I've gotten from rdm/war aside from what I love about /blm is that slow is the main enfeeble that gets resisted above all else o.O
