I said if they have better. If that's the best dagger you got fine, but I seen a lot of THF parading around with that stupid knife and I wanna vomit (not that I'm in much of a position to judge, my THF is crap XD but then I haven't put much effort into it either)

I wouldn't be relying so much on the Quick Magic to get anything done, and unless you're the type of person who Spellcasts a full Fast Cast set before every single spell they cast, the Quick Magic wouldn't get in the way of doing an Enfeebling cycle.

I'm screwing up that bad, huh? Then would you perhaps mind correcting me?

For starters, could you name a better earring for landing Enfeebling Magic?

For landing no, but I'd rather stick potency in there for most of my enfeebles. If you're talking about for landing sleep or bind then sure it's fine, but if I'm casting Slow, Paralyze or Addle I'm gonna stick to my Star Earrings.

It also seems fairly contradictory to say you can't rely on "occasionally maximizes magic accuracy" for consistent results, but then you turn around and start gushing about how great Quick Magic +3% is. Also your quip about maintaining fast cast sets is kinda dumb. You've got more than enough macro books to stack several layers deep to stick fast cast in front of everything even without spellcast.

I disagree as well. If you're not using spellcast, then the only way you can make sure your potency and accuracy gear is on when quick magic goes off is if you're using other macros to pre-equip it, which using the standard interface is probably taking you more time than you're saving by getting a quick magic proc. Slow and Para II only take 1.5 seconds to cast with AF head and relic body, and back when I using using linked macro books to change all my gear I had to wait half a second between macros or they wouldn't fully execute. The only reason to use magic accuracy gear is if you're in a situation where you're already expecting inconsistent results, so it seems redundant to say that it couldn't be relied on.

I've made my objections about quick magic elsewhere. It seems to me it would only be useful for casting emergency cures and to get in a free extra flash 3% of the time when building enmity on pld. An enmity+2 earring would probably get the same job done more reliably, though.

Quick Magic is a nice bonus where (unless the spell was already near instant-cast like Flash or something, and even then I could try recasting it) I pretty much know when I'm getting it. The benefit is something tangible, at least, gimmicky though it may be.

"Occassionally Maximizes Magic Accuracy," on the other hand, is something far less concrete, since in most cases you either land a spell or you don't, without much clear indication of whether the augment came in to play. When I first saw that augment, I read it much differently than Taskmage did. Where he saw "3% chance at Elemental Seal," I saw "3% chance at making all the Magic Accuracy gear I'm stacking pointless." Which would be especially ironic, considering this build would be putting Magic Accuracy on the Earring itself. I suppose you could say the same thing about Quick Magic and Fast Cast, but as I said, it's ultimately a personal preference of gimmicks.

To be blunt, I was more referring to spells that already cast fast enough that sticking Fast Cast gear in front of it would make it almost, if not impossible to swap back to equipment that enhances the spell itself before it went off. You know, the kind of thing people use Spellcast for.

I was more under the impression that your objection was more to an unswappable version of Quick Magic, e.g. Atma of the Apocalypse. I've already mentioned that your Ichis and timed nukes could omit the earring.

But for a third time, it's a personal preference, so whatever floats your boat.

I see it differently. There are many cases in which spells simply will not land without elemental seal, regardless of the skill and accuracy I'm stacking. Cerb, khim and hydra-type NMs give me the most trouble on red mage, but there are plenty of examples on the wiki of the phrase "impossible to X without elemental seal." If the mod works the way I think it does, I could toss out these longshot enfeebles after the likely ones and they'd have a 3% chance to stick rather than 0%. It's also frustrating as hell on blm/brd when I use elemental seal to make a threnody proc land and the mob cockblocks it at the last second by casting, forcing us to sit there and hold it for 10 minutes while my seal recharges and I spam threnody over and over hoping for a miracle. "Maximizing magical accuracy" would in theory give those subjob spells a much better chance to land. Ditto for kurayami procs from a nin subjob.

I could definitely see it being useful in the situations where, for whatever, reason, you're trying to land a spell from a non-native magic skill. That still seems a bit too situational for me, though.

For mage jobs I would go with MACC and Refresh since you already have the MAB earrings covered. You can macro the earring into your idle set and non-nuking spells.

For DD I would go with ACC and Regain, especially if you are going to melee on RDM as you have to sacrifice alot of ACC for haste.

I don't know. The Regain looks nice, but it seems like it would be a relatively small upgrade from the already existing Brutal/Hollow or Brutal/Suppa combos (would it even be an upgrade at all in the case of a Dual-Swording Suppanomimi?).

I do need a good second earring for when I'm using a non-sword weapon. Mostly I mean dagger on rdm, but I suppose it could apply to club or staff on pld. We're talking pretty niche circumstances, though.

M.Acc/Refresh seems like a good compromise. It has none of the shininess of any of the unique options in list 2, but it has enough broad usability that I might go with that.

Unfortunatly, before meleeing was a consideration for me I went with Abyssal over Suppa and haven't found the time to re-do DM to change it.
