You don't want to know how many guides I found when I was in Osaka last february.
I mean there was a book the size of three brady guides covering only leathercraft.

It's that I can only read Katakana and Hiragana and my Japanese vocabulary is not sufficient enough to translate 97% of what's in those books.

Wait wait don't destroy that guide! Your neighbor down the street the one with the bald spot he has a table that needs that exact size of the guide to balance his table thats about the only use it has now anyway.

Well Shirai I am sure someone would be happy to translate them if you scanned them.

Hehe, if I could read Japanese sufficiently I might actually buy the books.
Also, as said before, the price you pay for new books is quite high. (3500 Yen or more is not an exception)
I have no problems with following raw anime as that kind of Japanese is usually easy to follow.
But my lack of reading comprehension is what keeps me from buying Japanese Manga, let alone guidebooks.
          (Unless it's a collector's edition, I just love those!)

Note that most of my knowledge of the Japanese language comes from self study, watching anime and occasionally being in Japan myself so being forced to utilize the knowledge.

I just took the time to talk to everyone I could find and ended up getting 200 gil. However, on top of that I got some level 4 hat that might be nice for a new character or if you change classes and need starter gear. Can't remember off the top of my head what it was called or it's stats but maybe that is the extra 100 gil accounted for in the brady guide.

              brady guide.
Burn that thing. It was grossly inaccurate when the game came out, it's useless and detestable now. That thing perpetuated some of the most retarded myths in the game and did very serious damage to the way certain jobs were seen.
