Support Job Quest - Selbina or Mhaura?

I searched and read all the threads (from about five years ago T_T) re: support job quest Selbina V Mhaura. I know there have been several updates since then and can anyone tell me which one is going to be more doable?

Are Bogy's still nearly impossible to kill?

Ghouls?

Any suggestions?

Well, if you're of the level to do it yourself, you're going to have a rough time with either bogies or ghouls. If you have help (and really, it's nigh impossible to kill the undead mobs without, it doesn't really matter.

If you're closer to Mhaura, do that one. If you're closer to Selbina, do that one. It doesn't really matter. Just be sure not to start one if you really want to do the other.

I'd do Selbina simply because Ghouls are just barely soloable on your own, but Bogies are pretty fucking impossible to solo. Lv.25-ish and retarded physical resistances ftl.

LOL - Thanks - we are actually a trio, WAR, WAR, RDM which i'll bet a dozen krispy kremes is STILL not enough to take down a Bogy - Sounds like Ghouls is the way to go!

I did Mhaura, since there's less people there to worry about, but I don't think soloing it is wise in any case.

Most Bogy's check as EM or T - WHY CAN'T WE KILL THEM?!?! What am I doing wrong? I Keep em silenced as much of the time as possible, watch the chat log like a hawk, keep them enfeebed as much as possible and they are still wiping us (2/6). Curse and ~ga spells and stupidly insane physical resistance. So far Bogy's are really the only thing I'm having a tough time killing - even VT Gobie Leechers aren't this tough - and when we do manage to survive THEY DONT DROP THE GD BLOODY ROBES!!!!

What about dropping a high level Cure on the Bogy? is there benefit to that (the normal undead/heal connection). Any other strategies or tricks?

Personally I prefer to do the quest in Selbina and have to kill Ghouls. Bogys are a royal pain, as you've found out. Curing them is a waste of mp so don't bother. A blm or rdm in the pt is good because magic hits them harder than physical attacks. Don't sch's buff melee with en spells? Don't know what level they do that though but if its low enough that might help. Yes keeping them silenced and enfeebled is very important. It sounds like you've just had a bad run of luck. Maybe my "bop on the helm" will give you some good luck! LOL

In addition to keeping them enfeebled (as you know, Silence is the most important), Banish can make a significant difference in both melee and magic damage. Check these out for more info:

Banish is the great ghost equalizer. Parties almost never fight ghost mobs for exp, though, since if your WHM is concentrating on landing a banish before you WS, they're usually not as concerned with healing you. Test out Banish on these a few times though, you will notice a difference in the damage you can put down.

I suggest doing the Selbina quest. A old trick we use to do is go to Gusgan Mines and farm ghouls there. They are the first mobs you will see after running down the hallway from the entrance of the mines. There are two sets of 4 ghouls to pull from and you can zone if you run into trouble. I was taken there when I did my quest and I taken many people there for their quest. It is much easier than waiting until dark to have a ghoul spawn during night time.

Yeah I leveled up my Divine magic skill and even merited it. Then I merited Banish Skill for shits and giggles.

Went to a MNK pt in KRT and busted off a 1k+ Banish III MB. Let's just say the JP in my pt saying O.o {Incredibly Tough} {White Mage} O.O had me rolling for awhile.

I only got to do it on rare occasions since most of the time my mp was dedicated to the fast paced "Oh shit keep them alive" atmosphere of KRT lol.

I did get to place it on the beginning of a few skeles and they went down faster than a hook...eh hm...Diving Swallow...>.> (Not much better) lol

It helps immensly when I go WHM/NIN and Solo Skele's. Just bust the Banish III right before a hexa and watch their Hp drop lol. Fun thing to do, just few oppurtunities to do so.
