  • Promathia Tips

Well, we finally made it all the way to the big fight, and everyone told us how easy it is and how you can probably beat it with 5 and how with our setup there's no way that we can lose.

We're now 0/4, the last 2 losses came with it at less than 10%, the last 3 all from Sel'theus dying before we could finish off Promathia.

    Our setup:

    RDM/WHM (me)
    PLD/WAR
    DRK/THF
    WAR/NIN
    BLM/RDM
    WHM/BLM

90% of the fight we're fine, then it goes and does some BS like AoE Stun > Comet > AoE Stun and kills the PLD before we can get a cure off. From there it's pretty much downhill, Prishe gets hate, Sel'theus just sits behind her and eats every frontal cone AoE and Meteor that gets tossed their way, by the time we recover and are trying to make the kill he's low and gets wiped out by an AoE.

Our strategy is basically like a Kirin fight, we kite it until the melee have TP, then stop, SC+MB, then kite again. The SC seems to work well, but we had bad luck with stuff like Promathia putting up physical shield right in between the two WS', so the second one misses(also making the SATA hate not happen.)

Our 3rd fight we had it to 3%, if it weren't for a couple of dispelled RR's we probably would have had it, but for various reasons we just cannot seem to be able to make the kill, as Sel'theus dies before we can even 2hr.

Do you guys have any tips or see any holes in our strategy? I'm trying hard to figure out if we're doing something wrong, or if we're just having really, really bad luck, because I don't know anyone who needed more than 3 tries to beat this thing.

    Re: Promathia Tips

I would say bad luck. On my fight, (there's a video around here somewhere) stage 2 opened up with Empty Salvation (wipes reraise), AoE knockback, Magic Shield, 90 second uncurable Silence (4/6 were mages), then AoE Stun>Meteor>some other BS to pwn our two melee while we were all silenced. So within the first minute of the fight two of us were dead and the rest of us were powerless. I'd say on average we had 3.5 people on their feet at any point in the fight. Sehl and Prishe pretty much did all the work for us. I dunno about Sehl, but Prishe can be raised. All other strategy aside it seems to be a matter of keeping them alive and you win.

That's pretty much what we did, if we got into trouble we just let Prishe tank for a few, you don't get much hate for cure bombing her. If Sel dies you get ejected from the BC automatically, this is how we keep losing, and there's no way to cure him. We can't seem to find a way to keep him from dying because he loves walking face first into frontal AoEs and Meteor. Hopefully it'll bounce our way next time.

We kited it as well, but we didnt SC. Just have teh DRK go /WAR and fallow him around, like kiting Ulli. Use your strongest WS (Guillotine and Rampage) and finish him off that way.

Lost round #5 too, the static was all extremely disgruntled and about to mutiny on the whm, we entered fight #6 dead silent.

Things were going downhill at the end, but Sehl stuck a really well timed lance so we went to zerg. It wore, Promathia went batshit, wiped everyone but me, Prishe and the whm. It then used a 2nd AoE, and kills Prishe and the WHM right after Prishe gets off a dropkick and whm uses holy. It's at 1%, I'm the only one alive and I have 45 hp and 40 mp, and it turns for me. I couldn't think of anything else to do so I cast Bio 2 and turn to run as it readies the AoE to kill me. My guy stops moving, I wind up the arm to throw controller, and text scrolls up.

          Promathia falls to the ground.

6 tries and endless frustration, and in the end, I kill God with Bio 2.

Haha yes, I'll take an ugly win over a loss any day. Looking back it's pretty funny, my CoP static was about to implode, the PLD had already put down his controller and was walking away from the TV, and the rest of the party was about to snap on the WHM. Funny how many problems winning can fix! Now the next problem, I woke up at 8:30, and I can't start doing the CS' for my ring until 10!

Congratulations! If I ever won a BC like that, especially that one, I'd rofl afterwards. But apparently RDMs are more amazing than I thought, killing God with Bio 2...
