  • Do I Need Fame To Get The Next Mission?

I have just finished completing Mission 3-1, (Infiltrate Davoi) for Sandy (I'm aware that you can do this mission a 2nd time, but it changes, and yes.... I HAVE..... read the instructions for it too, so I might just give that a try first) and I'm not given the option to move onto the next mission. *sigh!*
It's been a while since I can remember, but do I need to level my fame a bit for Sandy before I can move onto the next mission? (I have Level 5 fame in Sandy)

Trade crystals to the guy who gives signet. You have to fill that bar up under profile in the menu. Either that or do previous repeatable missions. (I recommend the crystal method.)

Yeah, earth & water crystals are a good idea, as most of the mobs we level off drop them. They don't sell for much, so might as well turn them in.

Or, alternatively, since they don't sell for much, if you're lazy buy a stack of crystals and trade the stack. That will no doubt give you enough rank bar points to get the next mission.

Okay, thnaks for the helpul/useful info guys.
So it sounds like one stack of crystals would probably be enough to get me access to the next mission, is that true? Also, that bar which Caspian mentioned. (yep, I know which one you mean) From memory, I think mine is roughly half full, so how many stacks of crystals would it take to fill the bar completely?

Edit : I have 4 stacks of crystals sitting in my mog storage (2 stacks of earth, and 2 stacks of fire) at the moment, but I want to save them for crafting purposes. I'll either go out and farm them, or do it the lazy way and buy them from the AH instead.

Re: Do I Need Fame To Get The Next Mission?

Wind crystals cost a whole lot of nothing on most servers due to the ever-present XP parties in Bhaflau Thickets. I'd recommend scouting the Jeuno AH and seeing what the price of wind crystals are these days compared to other crystals.

One stack of crystals ought to be enough, though later missions require more (I remember the rank point requirement to get the mission for rank 10 is over 6 stacks of crystals, for instance).

Btw - looking at your sig, I'm really impressed with all those jobs you have been working on! It must have taken you a long time to build them all up. WOW!
However, the one thing I have always been worried about with playing too many jobs, is that you can NEVER..... have enough space, either in your inventory/items list, or your mog house to store all the equipment and weapons belonging to every job going e.t.c.
I have been building up my fame to visit Bluffnix in Jeuno, giving him the items he requires so that you/I can build more space in your/my inv, (I believe you get 5 extra spaces each time) and I have 45 already, (also, I believe the most you can reach is 60 spaces) but even with 60 spaces, I am absolutely very doubtful that you could ever have enough to store all equipmet and weapons e.t.c belonging to every job.
Not forgetting that you can also do the mog house quests to gain more spaces in there, (at the moment, mine is 60. I believe 80 spaces is the maximum you can reach with this) and also add things to mog storage to gain more spaces there too, but even so, I STILL feel quite doubtful that you could possibly do all those interesting, and exciting adventurous job, and have enough spaces to fill all the equipment with..... not to mention other items we all pick up from killing mobs too.
Crystals, food items, alchemy items, goldsmithing items e.t.c.
So HOW..... do you do it? I don't understand really.
Okay, just one question here if I may? (this is for anyone to reply to)
Regarding items that you can buy to fill up mog storage (and I don't mean the regular one which you do the mog quests for) - does anyone know the maximum amount of space you can free up from adding stuff in there please?

                Mules, lots of mules.

Mog safe/locker expansions and gobbie bags can only get you so far, after that you gotta start getting mule unless you wanna buy and sell stuff as you need it.

The downside of muling is you gotta log in and out for at least half an hour to transfer items from one character to the other, it can be a hassle so you gotta keep em organized. It's very easy to lose track of an item if you don't.

My jobs? That's not much. You should see the people that have 5+ jobs to 60 and 2-3 at 75... There are a few around.

That's why I designate my mules for specific things... Gear mule, Crystal mule, random stackable junk mule, & stacked items that I'm saving for crafting mule.

Yep I do the same, I have one mule for weapons, one for armor, one for items, etc, etc.

But even so, more than once I've bought some low lvl gear I forgot I had on my mule and then I found out I had it already while muling other stuff.

Mog Safe can go up to 80
Storage can go up to 80 as well, conversely you can lose safe space though. Plus, lots of furnishing of one type may give you a Moghancement you may not want.
Mog Locker can go up to 60 currently though this may expand later.

Another good storage option is to send yourself expendable items through your Delivery Box

Mules by far are the best option though, especially if you can get one a Mog Locker.

I wouldn't call it a "good" option, it ties up your delivery box and makes it a pain to receive items at times. It is good to use in a pinch, though. Though using 2-4 slots for this doesn't cause a big problem.

You may want to look into the armor storage NPCs. There is one in every city. They will store full sets of gear for you. Like the full Seer's set. You are not allowed to store +1 items or partial sets. You must have the complete set of normal quality gear. Talk to one of them to find out what you can store. There is one in Lower Jeuno near the Guide Stone.

There are also event item storage NPCs. They will hold most items obtained from special events. Right now, I have my Dream Coat, Dream Hat +1, Bathing suit, and a few other things in storage there. I think I want to toss in my Dash Sash and Happy Egg, too.

With both of these NPCs, you get a key item that allows you to pick it up later for a nominal fee. In essence, you are turning these items into key items.

Re: Do I Need Fame To Get The Next Mission?

What a bad shame for me. I'm not the one who has 50+ different computers (hehhe... okay, so is a bit too far. I'm only joking of course ) in my house and building up lots of mules to save stuff on. Isn't there a limit to how many mules you can spend your money on?
I have made 2 other chars, 1 for Bastok, and the other for Windy, just to check on prices at the AHs, and I sent a couple of level 8 equipment items to one of them to sell at the AH in Bastok because I'd filled up all 7 slots at the AH in Sandy where you put things up for sale, but that's about it for me really.
There's absolutely NO WAY..... that I can handle every single job at once! But at least I'm still happy with what I can handle anyway.
There's also another thing though. I know that you can only ever put up 7 items (including stacks of things) for sale at any one time. But I'm just wondering...... am I the only one who thinks that SE should make the extra 3 slots become available on the AH, so that you can put up 10 items instead? I do think it's rather pointless why there are 3 extra slots which you cannot use. I don't understand!
Is this perhaps something I could post to SE and ask them why this is?
Unless I know of a reasonable explantion for this...... then I'm all for the fact that SE should DEFINITELY make them available to use!

Okay, the mog locker - that's one for the ToA expansion I believe, (for which I have alerady bought and added a while ago) and there would be some kind of a quest for that. Should I search around FFXl sites for that? I'm not quite sure where to look right now though.

Once you get to Whitegate you need to talk to Naja in the Sentinels office above the south port.

She'll give you a supplies package which you need to deliver to a Staging Point npc. Once you do that and talk to her again you can access the locker. Just talk to the npc to the left of the MH in Whitegate
