  • PM8-4 - "Dawn" - Spoilers Kinda Probably

Okay, so I'm just going to warn whoever reads this i'm going to refer to the actual NPC names so if you don't like spoilers..don't read on.

Okay so..lately I've been pretty pissed off that my party allowed me to join them for 8-3, yet ditched me at 8-4. Anyway, for about a month now I've been stuck on the Promathia Battle. For the first week or so, about daily, for fun I ran in and just cured the hell out of prishe.

For the first time she died at around 80% on promathia's HP. Then, she started dieing around 65% (I was starting to get the hang of it). So, each time, I got better. Now, keep in mind that I am a level 63 Red Mage.

I'm wondering..that if I had the necessary MP and/or gear and meds..Would it be possible to just cure prishe the whole fight, and win solo? My MP isn't a big issue, as if it comes down to it I can buy a lot of MP stuff (I can do the choco escort quest and be right at level up to get full MP, Vile Elixer+1, Vile Elixer [NQ], etc) I've had Promathia down to 89% on the second form so far, and the Only reason I lost that early is because Selh'teus used Revelation and gave me 300 TP so I said screw it, ran in, and Spirit's Withined Promathia (No effect..lol). I still had Convert up and 600 MP.

So, what I am wondering is with the right equipment, and MP..would it be possible? I'm not sure how much time I had left when I soloed him to 89% but I estimate I still had about half the time left. With Selh'teus doing his Redemption moves as well as his Luminous Lance moves, and Prishe going all out with her WS's as well, he was dropping at about the same rate as his first form. The big difference was, however, he was hitting twice, to three times as hard.

My plan to get him to the second form (Which has been working like a charm), is to spam cure Prishe until I have no more MP. Then to sit and heal my MP until she uses Benediction, and wait until she drops to about 30% hp after she uses that so I have enough MP to keep her alive and so I can save Convert. That usually gets me to ~15% on the first form.

So, using this strategy would it be possible to take Promathia down? Or would I run out of time first? Or would Prishe just absolutely need her two hours in the second form to survive? I'm wondering because I am sick and tired of having people telling me I'm too low to do this mission. I got this far, and I'm not giving up now. . . I will do anything in my power to destroy Promathia, even if it means paying 15 million gil. So, anyone have any tips on this at all?

    Thank you in advance.

Getting Promathia to stage 2 is relatively easy. Defeating him in stage 2 solo is not possible. He hits very hard, casts Meteor (not stunnable) as well as some other crazy thing that does 900 damage, and you have to keep Sehl'teus alive during this process as well.

Prishe + Sehl'teus is not enough to win. You need other forms of damage, and you need to keep them both alive (by the by, as I recall you can't heal Sehl'teus either).

By the way, his second form will destroy you the moment he uses Quiescence. AoE silence, huge range, silence effect cannot be removed in any way (not Silena, not Echo Drops, not Barsilence, not Baraera, nothing), and lasts a good long while.

When I had him to 89% I was able to quickly run out of range of Meteor so that wouldn't be a problem..but I am assuming Quiescence is the entire battlefield kind of range? And yeah, I can't heal Selh'teus, but he can two hour and restore his HP/MP/TP along with Prishes and mine, as well.

Problem is you can't heal Selt'heus, but he does take damage from Meteor. Also, an AoE amnesia causes problems as well as the horrible silence.

I don't think Prishe and Selt'heus would do enough damage to kill Promathia - if it was possible Avesta would probably have done it by now...

I guess that's true..I was just getting hopeful since I had him down to 89% with literally no problems..I should probably go try to see how far I can actually get him down on the second form though..and yeah I never realized Meteor would hit Selh, too..

Level up. And level up your subjob. RDM65/SMN25 isn't going to cut it, and that's why you've been ditched. Also, your signature claims you've completed CoP. If you haven't defeated Promathia, why does it say that? Also, have you defeated Kam'Lanaut or just mooched Ark Angels?
