    Re: Switching Nation Missions

One point that has been overlooked regarding rank: The higher your rank, the longer signet lasts!

I'm one of those people that loves the story lines, so after I did rank 10 in Bastok I changed to Sandy and did it again. Then I changed to Windy and am currently rank 7 there. I think it would have been a nice addition to the game to make Jeunoan residence possible once all 3 starting cities were completed, and possibly another series of missions to get rank 10 there too.

The biggest problem I've had with changing allegiances has been the loss of OP warps. Bit of a pain waiting to get gustaberg and ronfaure again, but that's life I suppose!

      Re: Switching Nation Missions

Just to clarify what he just said about signets:

      1. Your signet effect will last 1 hour for each rank you have in a nation.
      2. You will get a bonus of 1 hour for each place in the Conquest Ranking your nation recieves this week. So, 1st place is an extra 3 hours on top of your rank.

Changing nations does reset OP warps. It's annoying, and they said in previous dev panels that they were looking into making it stick with you upon changing nations, but that hasn't happened yet. Right now, it's a major incentive to do more Expeditionary Forces to claim regions you still need access to.

I have every region unlocked for outposting. Unless they decide to make that change and save those, I don't see myself ever changing over.

          Re: Switching Nation Missions

One benefit of having high rank in all cities, there are some CP items that can only be obtained by being a citizen of that nation. While doing my "tour" of all nations, I picked up a Rep. Gold Medal from Bastok. The item is not tradeable and is only available when Bastok is in first.

There are other items similar to this and not all of them are actually useful Just a good thing to have. Besides, (as I posted in some other thread) you get a better idea of the FFXI lore by doing all the nation missions.

I don't believe this is correct. Signet lasts longer when your nation is behind in conquest, not the other way around. You get one hour per level of rank plus the number of hours of your city's place in conquest. A Rank 5 player from San d'Oria with San d'Oria in 3rd place for Conquest will have a Signet that lasts 5 + 3 = 8 hours. If San d'Oria is in first, that player will have a Signet that lasts 5 + 1 = 6 hours.

The reason for this is to help nations that are struggling in conquest - by giving their citizens longer lasting Signets, they will have a greater impact on conquest results since they won't run out as quickly (at least, that was the original idea - nowadays with many rank 10 players running about, it's become less of an issue, but the game mechanics still exist to support it).

              Nation Rings

So does anyone have a Ring from each city?

              Which FF Character Are You?

I know of one person who did a tour of the cities just for each ring. It's not as special as you'd think, since the rings outlive their usefulness somewhere around or before level 30.

I have the flag for each city, but not the ring ; ; But, either way - its not exactly useful!

                    Re: Switching Nation Missions

So while we're on this topic, how does your MH work, exactly? I was wondering about the stuff in storage and my furnishings, to be exact. Will I have to remove all of the stuff in storage and mule it (or something) until I can re-place my furnishings in my new MH, or will all that stuff get changed over when I switch?

I've been thinking about all this stuff, and it really seems like a lot of hassle.

Since all the MH have the exact same layout all your stuff gets moved automatically exactly as it was in your old nation, no hassle at all.
