  • PM6-4: Classified as one of the hardest mission in game?

At 26th February, my team set the date for PM6-4: One to be Feared (5x Mammet's / Omega / Ultima) must be done in 45 min, classified as one of the hardest mission in game no?

My team prepared for this mission for 1 week with farming and such and our preparation was worth around 5 mil (No kidding). Some of us bought a little stuff from AH but the rest was by farming. Especially me I was a nervwreck about this mission because I "heard" that this mission is very hard with PLD tank and some people say it's do-able. So we adjusted our team setup a little bit

PLD/WAR with evasion gear (+60 EVA + 2x Mambo from BRD)
    MNK/NIN
    WAR/NIN
    BRD/WHM
    BLM/WHM
    WHM/BLM

Basically a balanced EXP PT. The items that was worth around 5 mil (Remind the price might have drop now) was:

CCB Polymer: They cost like 500k/each on Fairy Server
    Vile Elixir: Around 200k
    Vile Elixir +1: Around 500k
    Hi-Potions: Around 10k/Each
    Ethers: Around 5k/Each
    Yagudo Drink: Around 5-7k/Each

Basically we had 6 CCB, each mage and the tank had Vile Elixir and a +1. And this is the funny part, Me as tank had around 30 Hi Pot, the other 2 DD's had 30 as well so they could put on bazar and the mages had a few Hi Pot as well. So basically around 100 Hi Pot. And we didnt buy those pots, we farmed the malboro vines and one of our DD and Mage were highlevel alchemist's. Same thing with the 6 CCB we did the quest and farm the chips. Of course people get frustrated when they buy the stuff and expect to win. But if you farm and prepare well this mission wont cost as much as you think. We all were kinda suprised when we calculate the total worht of our 1 week farming.

We basically enter the BC check the CS and exit the BC to save us around 2-3 min for the battle and re-enter the BC again for the real fight and our plan was me as tank sight aggro and kite all 5x Mammets. While the rest of the PT kill one at a time. Went smoothly. We came to Omega we all used Reraise items and engaged Omega. From 100% --> 50% Omega wasnt a pain. But at start we kinda got suprised because he start the battle with Guided Missiles and the mages almost got killed but we managed to keep everyone over yellow health.

At 50% we used a CCB to decrease the spamming from Omega and as well at 25% and at 10%. But we were so busy to keep us alive at 10% because one of the members didnt use CCB and Omega run around and spam Pile Pitch like there was no tomorrow. Basically Omega had around 2% left while everyone whipe. I was the only one who had RR up and the other didnt duo they raised up again to try to chip off the last 2%.

So basically we lost like 10 minutes to wait for me as PLD to raise up ther other. And the original plan was to whipe together and not RR up again if you die till everyone is dead (Save at least 5 min instead of 10).

We raised up and waited for weakness to wear off and kill Omega fast. We came to Ultima and had 5 min left. We just gave all we got on Ultima and @ 30% we got booted from BC because of time out.

Everyone in my team were kinda frustrated and we discussed about our mistakes we did and the main big mistake was about the RR part we decided to farm up the CCB's and buy up the left remaining medecine we needed and waited for our 2h to be available again.

So around 2-3h later we tried the BC again everything went smooth till we got to Omega @ 25%. We whipe duo to Omega did use Guided Missiles twice in a row so we wipe together and raised up again. Killed Omega after everyone was unweakened those 25% left went kinda fast though in my opinion.

When we came to Ultima we had like 15 minutes left with 3 CCB, everyone wanted to kill Ultima ASAP which we did. And we won the battle with 10 min left and we kinda had alot of left over medecine which we will use for later missions.

At the end this mission wasnt classified so hard as people claim I'm 0/54 on this mission I can say that PM3-5: Darkness Named was harder duo to mistakes and not enough prepared, it's also depends on how prepared you are but you cant say this mission is hard if you havent give it a GOOD try. I ended PM6-4 mission with 1/2 with a balanced EXP PT, with good preparation and teamwork and I say this mission is a bit hard BUT not that hard as people claim it to be. You can do it, aslong your team are prepared.

And finally the reward after beating PM6-4 that is classified as one of the hardest mission in game? Figure it by yourself.

*Check the last screenshot at the end of the screenshot serie (The Chatlog).

*That's the team spirit after a hard preparation work

We also had FFXI Parser program on to check out our dmg. We found out that Omega/Ultima had the same amount of HP. Like people claim that Ultima has less HP than Omega is wrong (or am I wrong?)

Both Omega and Ultima had around 14.5k HP according to Parser. I think Omega had much more base defence than Ultima. I mean we had 35 minutes left when we entered Omega and had 15 min left on Ultima. So basically 10 min on Omega and 5 min on Ultima and both have save amount of HP.

But this is not official I just took this information from Parser and post it here for you guys information.

I hope this help people who are gonna do this in the future, this mission is not hard as you think and all kind of jobs are good to beat this mission aslong it's balanced and prepare well if you guys lose that's not a biggy just re-structure your stradegy and notice that mistake you did on your previous run.

    Good Luck Everyone!

grats, im still tryin to beat these guys...Mammets are easy stuff 5-10mins for that, 35mins on clock..Omega always takes us out at 20/30% cos he spams Guided Missile instead of Pile Pitch ;.; if we do make it to Ultima we time out at 20% >< we usually hav 4CCB end up with 1 and empty pockets...Grats tho and GL with 7-5
Added: What jobs did u use? ive used PLD tank only for the PLD to wipe in seconds >< ive gone DRK PLD NIN RDM BLM WHM, lack of DD lost to that. DRK PLD RNG RDM BLM WHM, we only lost to that due to 3 Missiles in a row knocked us out..and th runs we got to Ultima 1 person died due to PLD losin hate for 1 second and we were finished ><

Grats on success, I wish I had the real life time to complete the misisons. Alot of baacktracking helping LSmembers is killin me. but its what I have to do to get people to the same place. We'll attempt this in about a month or so.

Re: PM6-4: Classified as one of the hardest mission in game?

I wanted to make my fight as painless as possible, after hearing how many losses my friend went through before winning that BC. I ended up farming up a few CCB polymers by myself, and in the process learning how to fully navigate pso'xja.

I think we did three attempts, back to back. The first two we didn't use items/2 hours on. I felt totally useless outside of supplying polymers though. >_>a We had a WHM in the group, so I couldn't go as WHM. And they wanted me as MNK/NIN for it... I stood there and punched for about 15 damage on omega...

Anyway, by some miracle, we won. Since then I've been convinced into going to one other 6-4 run, this time as my WHM.

It was like 6AM CST by the time we started, and we had a PLD for our tank. And we didn't have a ton of medicines... I have absolutely no idea how we won that on our first try. 'Jinx got lucky...

Anyway - Yeah, preperation goes a long way on the 6-4 fight, and you summed up how you feel when you beat the "hardest mission in the game" pretty well.

Re: PM6-4: Classified as one of the hardest mission in game?

Thanks for the nice replies guys v^^V

alexw: Our setup was PLD, WAR, MNK, BRD, BLM, WHM. Basically a balanced exp party. My tip as PLD, you can stay alive for so long if you know what you are doing you know and always try to keep hate on yourself which is quite hard @ 50 --> 0%. I mean PLD can also go as DD if he got the right equip and try to skillchain with the DRK. DRK can also sub NIN and skill up Axe if he hasnt already done that. PLD should work as backup tank and flash O/U here and there when NIN is recasting Utusemi.

But I can't give you an exact respond because I never tried your setup. I can only say keep trying and keep trying, I bet people reading other "winning PM6-4 thread" to use it as a PM6-4 winning recipe which is totaly wrong. I mean you dont know what kind of mistakes you will do during your battle and I'm not there to watch you know. Only you and your team can re-contruct your stradegy after each failed attempt.

I also believe that it's not good to rely on other people's "detailed" walktrough for PM6-4. Because you never know what the NM's do inside the BC like you said, Omega spam Guided Missiles instead of Pile Pitch, because it's all random but you at least know what kind of abilities they can pull off.

Oh by the way 7-5 went smoothly, 1st try Tenzen had around 23% left...just 3% to win. Reason? Yeah basically people say "Go all out threat Tenzen like Snoll Tzar to prevent LV4 Skillchain: Cosmic Elucidation" But the thing that people never thought of that you go almost all out at start but leave no more offensive power at the end to really finish Tenzen off like on our 1st run he had 3% left to give up and Tenzen basically pulled off his LV4 skillchain, a quite nice show=)

But on 2nd try we decided to slowly beat Tenzen down to 70% and after that go all out. And basically it went alot smoother and we won =)

Tazirai: It's good you guys backtrack to help your LS members, it make FFXI more fun you know, even if it's frustrating sometimes to lose. Hey you cant win everytime it wont be fun then. When you attempt PM6-4 try to enjoy the fight, it's very cool to fight on an airship ^^

Jei: You shouldn't be afraid of this mission, why? well you guys preparing and what I can see you read my post as feedback and I bet you read other PM6-4 threads to stimulace your self-confidence which I also did before I attempt this mission.

Tirroc: Yeah I couldnt explain the the feeling better to show the chatlog after I beated PM6-4 and I agree with you, most CoP mission are beatable if you are PREPARED nothing else! Those who lose a mission like 0/35 times are desperate and not willing to co-oparate or their team not prepared duo to lack of reading up information on the net or not prepared and put enough of effort when it comes to purchase medecine.

                Congrats!

I'm doing this BC this weekend, after we failed the last attempt. We were doing dry runs and took so long that our tank had to leave. Everybody makes the Mammets sound easier then they really are though, we couldn't get past them.

Oh well, we'll pick up the pieces and be able to do this soon. Hopefully.

Congrats again, and know that the rest of CoP is all easier then that. Slightly more downhill. Enjoy the rest of the wild ride.

Re: PM6-4: Classified as one of the hardest mission in game?

I finally got this cleared the night before last (hadn't attempted it before then but was stuck on 6-4 for 2 weeks due to expansion >.<). Our setup made the fight pretty darn easy and we were 1/2. First run was:

                  NIN/NIN/BLM/RDM/WHM/BRD

We ended up with only 5 minutes left to fight Ultima and decided to retreat. This was mainly due to our unsuccessful use of the "Reraise and Burst" trick. Omega insantly cast discharger right before burst landed.

                  Second run:

                  NIN/NIN/MNK/RDM/WHM/BRD

This run went much more smoothly and we finished in about 35min total. MNK was far more useful on this BC than BLM was in my opinion.

Bottom line is that 2xNIN and a BRD make this mission pretty damn easy if everyone pays attention and is geared properly. Have all melee stand BEHIND omega so that he uses Rear Lasers instead of his other, more nasty weapon skills. Have you WHM make a stona macro for each melee so that he can quickly get petrify off the tanks. 2xNIN made this less of an issue because when I would get petrified the other NIN would voke omega off me and visa versa.

Omega and Ultima have CRAPPY accuracy. With double mambo and blind on them I was pretty much able to Ni->Ni tank until they both went nuts at about 20%.

Overall it was the most exciting fight I've ever encountered in the game.

You can't do this as Paladin with a pick up party, so it's a good thing you had a lot of dedicated friends. With a Ninja it's possible to cruise on through with a pick up party.

Nice play by play. Mucho grats, that is not an easy mission by any stretch of the imagination.
Biggest thing I can add is to stay calm when things get hectic. You can have a full wipe and recover, you can have a partial wipe and recover, you just have to be calm about it.
When I did it and won, I was weakened for most likely 75% of the battle. Died to a mammet, then was weakened and died to the first bot, then was weakened through most of the last one. We had one total wipe in there as well and managed to recover from it.

Grats ^^. I won 6-4 first try by some miracle, but I think it was only luck. We just about wiped on Omega at the end, too. One heck of a fight.

Re: PM6-4: Classified as one of the hardest mission in game?

I honestly don't see wha's so hard about this mission. It's very easy compared to the damn snoll and the pots in sea.

Basically, Ninja is the better tank for this. I'm not saying paladin sucks, it's just with the weapons they tend to spam certain skills which shadows can protect against. You will need a whm, plain and simple for petrify. Don't use the polymers until 15% it's a waste otherwise, from the 6/6 times I've done this, he's only spammed Pile Pitch at 15% max.

On the second time, we went in mage style. It's not impossible but you need cookies and yag drinks (even if you have a rdm, chances are they'll be busy too.) That fight we went Blm Rng Whm Rdm Smn Nin. For mammets all Smn had to do was Thunderspark the mammets and the stayed on ramuh while the blms and nin picked them off. Omega is a pushover. Remember Stun is your friend. Unfortunately for the mage run is that the weapons end up using a move that nullifies all magic damage so our rng had to step a bit. In the end we won with 1 min left lol. It's not impossible, just pick up the pieces and try again.

Oh and be sure to pull the weapons to the Top right corner and mages to bottom left or vice versa... Mages shouldn't get hit by any of the weapons attack if you do. Just keep HP up, push forward, and DON'T PANic and you should be fine. I believe we only spent 500k per run, CCBs were 100k at that time. Good luck to you all and don't be discouraged if you fail.

Did this last night on our first run.

NIN, WHM, WAR, MNK, BLM, RDM

won with 2 minutes to spare.

                            5 polymers, 5 2-hours, 25+ Hi-Pots, 5 I.Wings, and an AMAZING effort from everyone.
