  • Windurst Quests

I just wanted to quickly confirm that to raise Windy fame, it isn't the normal npc quests which help to raise your fame. It's the ones you have to go out and farm items for. Is this correct?

    For e.g.
The sheep quest in Selbina - Melyon wants you to collect some items for him, (I can't remember what they are away from game) and you receive a "ding" confirming this when you trade to him and you also receive some gil in the process each time you trade the correct amount.

So there are a few npcs in Windurst that want you to go and farm items for them.
(the ones I have started on are around Windy Woods) Are these the only npc quests which help you raise your fame for Windy? I am quite sure this is correct.

I am already aware of other quests around Windurst from looking at the sites related to FFXl, but I just wanted to confirm it for the particular quests I am talking about.

    Re: Windurst Quests

Dont know if this will help but I maxed my fame in Windy on doing Coronette runs.I forget the npc name in windy but hes in the second hut to the left in the Waters.

You buy Coronettes in Bastok when they rank 1 or 2 for 257gil and trade them to the guy for 200 gil each.(traded one at a time)

So for very little gil you can get max fame without much of a headache.I have a character in bastok so getting them to windy was easy. You could have a friend help if needed to make it quicker.Took me about 8-10 runs 30 coronettes a piece to max I believe.

    Goodluck with it.

      Re: Windurst Quests

Every quest you do raises your fame, not just the ones that involve collecting items. Quests that ask you to "Bring me X amount of item" are simply preferred for raising fame quickly because they are usually repeatable and you can complete them many times in a short period.

For Windurst fame, trading Cornettes to Yoran-Oran is the preferred method, since Cornettes can be purchased in Markets if Bastok is 1st or 2nd in conquest. Trading Bastore Sardines to Tokaka in Windurst Port is another commonly used method because the sardines are cheap and easy to obtain, but you have to leave the zone and come back to repeat the quest, so it's more time-consuming.

        Re: Windurst Quests

Repeating quests is increadably boring. Have a look through http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/quests...realm=Windurst and find something you haven't done yet. You get more fame from quests you haven't done than ones you repeat. In addition to that you'll also unlock quest that are higher in a series that have better rewards than the earlier ones. You don't have to loose ~50 gil a quest to gain fame, you can make money and get more involved in the FFXI story as you do it.

          Re: Windurst Quests

I find the "just-pickin'-up-a-quest-from-any-NPC" way more fun. Reapeating was okay, but I only did that for San D'Oria (Bat Wongs), after trading about ten stacks of those it got super boring so I moved to just talking and picking up the quest. Not to mention you get a wider variety of titles! >w<

          Fishy

          There once was fish,

          Whom made a perfect dish

          To a giant fish.

          The giant fish was caught,

          By a Mithra which sought

          To fill her hunger.

          The Mithra was slayed,

By a monster whom would raid

          The land.

Cornettes are only available in Bastok when they are first place. You won't see them if they are second place.

I don't think that's correct. I'm pretty sure that you'll see them any time Bastok isn't in last place. That's how somepage lists it, at any rate. On Lakshmi, Bastok usually languishes in last place for months and then busts out and conquers the entire map one week—I guess so people can get their Musketeer's guns or whatever. At any rate, I rarely see them in second place to test the theory.

Of course doing non-repeatable quests is more fun than spamming a repeatable to get your fame up, but I didn't think that was the point of discussion. If you want to raise fame quickly for some reason, say you want to join a group to fight Ramuh or Ifrit tonight, then filling up on Cornettes and handing them in en masse is the way to get it done.

Kafeen does raise a good point. Not all quests give the same amount of fame, and repeatables tend to be on the low end as far as fame per completion. Can't be beat as far as fame per time, though.

Cornettes are sold from Harmonia's Music Store in Bastok Markets at 2nd place. I don't know of a place where they're sold only with Bastok in 1st. Moreover, items sold only when a nation is in 1st are also generally only sold to citizens of that nation.
