  • Need Strategy for COP 6-4 Battle

In about 3 hours my group is going to take on Omega for the third time. We did fairly good the first time, but the 2nd attempt we didn't even make it past the mammets. While I feel we won't do so badly against them this time, there's still the matter of Omega. I could use a good strategy or two with the setup I have.

DRK RNG WHM BLM SMN NIN

For the mammets we usually have the RNG shadowbind one (while BLM assists with Bind), the DRK and BLM take another, the SMN take one, and the NIN take the remaining one. This worked until the mammets started going after the mages. We tried a strategy where the NIN would pull 3 at a time and kite around while we pick off the remaining ones, but well, they went after another mage. I think we can pull it off this time if we just learn to keep hate control.

Now for Omega. Naturally the mages are far away while the melees are to the left and right of Omega (not behind or in front of it). What I tried to do was have the DRK and BLM stun Omega constantly, whenever they had it available, to keep its attacks to a minimum. This seemed to do the trick until Omega's hate reset had him chase after the mages. And the problem with reraising and waiting until we're unweakened is that half the members died at the spot where Omega goes back to after we're wiped. I think maybe we could force members to run to a safe spot when they're low on health and let Omega finish them.

So any additional strategies you could give me would be appreciated.

Re: Need Strategy for COP 6-4 Battle

Please view this as a 'potential' way to do it. Theres a lot of reasons why 2 parties with exact same setup can go in and one come out winner the other dont, and most ppl who will reply have no idea what your playstyle is, what your equipment is, what your meds are etc.

You didnt mention your members have any other jobs so I'm going to just assume that you need to do it with the jobs you mentioned.

#1 tip: if you didnt do it the first time, farm/buy CCB Polimer, it'll make your life a lot easier for Omega/Ultima
#2 tip: if you didnt do it the first time, get yellow liquid so you can control your mammets.
#3 tip: use this page if you 'really' wanna read someone elses account on how they beat this bc. keep in mind, they have their own playstyle, some things arent accurate etc. http://promathia.runtimerepairs.com/Missions/6-4.html

Now on to some more specific tips -

    Mammet Fight:
NIN - should be able to solo one, make sure he has liquid to use
SMN - if your summoner isnt used to kiting, try practicing, SMNs can be pretty good kiters while your DDs are busy
    RNG - solo/kite one
BLM and DRK - will concentrate on one to take it down. Having your BLM kite is a waste of his resources, as his defense is really squishie, might as well have him nuke his heart out, they go down pretty fast.
WHM - just keep everyone alive etc.

When you get through this fight, make sure u take the time to recoup but not too much time.

    Ultima/Omega:
NIN - straight tank both in a 'corner' as far away from mages as u can get. Your mages will need to learn how to run in cast run back out so as not to get in range of AOE. Your NIN should face ultima/omega away from everyone else.
RNG - just arrow burn from far away, no point in having someone else to cure by being in range of attacks
DRK - as this is a straight meelee job, your drks gonna have to get hit, make sure he goes to the bc armed with his own meds. Lots of hi-pots so that the whm wont be so busy healing him and stealing hate away from tank
BLM - should stand with the RNG (both RNG and BLM suggested to stand away from your whm)
WHM - find a corner, stay safe, heal everyone, keep rr on, keep an eye out for all the status effects that ultima/omega will cause on your tanks and DD
SMN - do as much damage as you can, backup heal etc. and save astral flow to finish off Ultima.

You are correct in that if you have to wipe and RR again, make sure it's near the door (where u enter), not near where Ultima/omega's starting point is.

As you have noticed, this is mostly a party formation/arrangement suggestion, I think that guide covers a lot of cool things like what to bring and what not.

    Good Luck!!! GANBATTE!

Re: Need Strategy for COP 6-4 Battle

Thanks a lot for the tips. Well, we failed on our two attempts last night, but I don't feel too bad because we all improved tremendously. We came up with strategies for both Mammets and Omega that worked real well, so we can just reuse these strategies the next time. It should also be noted that we had the SMN change to RDM for the second attempt, and we managed to get up to Ultima, so we're planning to have him as RDM from now on.

Mammets: We have the NIN aggro the 3 center ones, the RNG pulls the far left while the BLM and me (DRK) work on the far right. While this resulted in a few close calls with the NIN, we managed to beat this fairly easily with no deaths. And yes we use yellow drops.

Omega: This was my idea. Before, we would usually fight Omega on the top left of the room (where Omega is facing, this would be behind his right), while the mages waited at the bottom left (the left where we enter). The problem here is if we all die and Omega goes to his spawn point, the melees are too close to raise up. So what I did was have us pull Omega to the bottom right of the room (the right of where we enter), while the mages stayed at the bottom left. This way, if Omega kills us all, we can safely raise up once Omega goes to his spawn point.

This idea worked, especially since Omega's AOEs never reached the mages. We did a great job of keeping Omega on the bottom right and away from the mages, the only problem being that it took a while to bring him down to 30%. On the second attempt we decided to do a SC (Guillotine and Slug Shot with MB) which helped do more dmg. When he started going nuts we let him have it with 3 CCBs. Eventually he went down.

Ultima: We only had 11 min left with Ultima, and the problem we always have is doing enough dmg to him. The other major problem was that the mages kept getting silenced (to which we all aggree to bring echo drops next run) as well as running low on MP (need more drinks). While I personally find Ultima easier than Omega, his high def and constant status spells can prove annoying. I could use a little more info on him.

Finally, is there anything added to today's update that could help make this an easier battle? I hope so, since we're taking him on again this Thursday.

Re: Need Strategy for COP 6-4 Battle

Hello, sorry I didnt see this until today, glad to hear you got that far! Yeah having a rdm for that bc is very helpful I think In our setup, our RDM solo kited 1 mammet with no problem at all.

        Ok some tips for Ultima

        Tip #1: again with the CCB... sorry ><;;
We spammed CCB on him like CUHRAZY! We used around 3 CCBs on him with this interval > 75%hp, 50% hp, 25% hp. The last CCB was honestly overkill on our part, we didnt really need it, but I'm sure it made him a lot more docile towards the end. So I'd say have at least 2 CCBs with you for just Ultima.

        Tip#2: your DD setup
Doing damage, so now your setup is DRK RNG BLM as your DD still right? When you're fighting Ultima, delegate the RDM to nothing but heal and refresh duty. It's kind of needed at this point.

Right now I think your BLM, should be using his hi-ethers like crazy and popping out AM whenever he can, especially towards the end. This is also when you should be using TP items like Icarus wings etc. 2hrs etc.

Try to setup some skill chains that will allow your BLM to burst with AM. This is very critical at around 50%Ultima hp, weaponskills damage + sc damage + burst = a can take down a huge chunk of Ultima HP at once.

I know this sounds horrid... but if you feel like you can win, definitely sacrifice your DRK >< have him use his 2hr and just hack away especially if he has TP. Hopefully the mages can keep up with his HP drop but I believe he can take out a lot of hp, then RNG 2hr should be used as well.

I'd say around 20%hp, you can start spamming all your tp items and 2hrs etc. BLM should manafont at this time.

        Tip#3: timing and resource usage
Basically the first two fights you wanna go as dry as possible, so that you can use all these things to finish off Ultima in the time limit.

Another thing is, 11mins on Ultima is pretty good but if you feel you need more time for Ultima, I'd try and go back and see where you can save time on cs's and resting etc. I'm presuming that you use the 'zone in for first cs' zone out to reenter bc and skip' idea. The only cs you will need to watch is the 2nd one and I'm sure you can spam enter and get it over with, then take a maximum 3 min break.

While the mages are resting between mammets and omega/ultima, the DRk might want to consider using oponeck+sleep potions. As much tp as he can get anytime during this bc is welcomed.

        What is your DRK subbing?

        What our mages did:
(not sure if this is gonna help but we had almost identical setup except with had RNG RNG instead of DRK RNG)
As a WHM during Ultima I was never silenced but my tank took ultima way way far from us and I had to run in and run out to heal, only our tank was hit with AOEs in general so I only had 1 person to stona as well (our rngs did get stonaed at points though), which helps greatly.

This entire time the RDM kept up with refresh and healing a lot, this opened up time for me to cast stona and other meds when needed for whoever needed it.

My DDs during this battle (BLM RNG RNG) used up all their 2hrs within the last 20% of Ultima health and took him down completely.

Hope this helps a bit more >< sorry for the essay! ><

Helps to have BLM maintain Shock, Burn and Choke on Ultima. It softens him up a bit.

Re: Need Strategy for COP 6-4 Battle

Well, if you still need the tips on this fight. I can give mine on how I won this fight.

I went for a total of 10 runs, and won on the 10th try.

            Party jobs:
first 5 runs, i looked at all the strategy guides posted on forums basically everywhere. all stating a balanced party meaning: Tank whm 2 DD rdm/brd then the 6th being blm or smn. ok.. it was not doing good for me. i cant even get to see ultima, mostly wipe at omega.

next 4 runs, basically the same job config. (I do not have a static, mostly shout for members). the usual happens. 1st wipe during mamet as some members are new to it. 2nd wipe at omega. 3rd not enough time on ultima, 4th wipe at ultima

the 10th run. This time I had a pretty good idea on how to win the fight, 2 member bitch of death (and mostly money on medicine and CCB lost etc) and they left, so i went back to jeuno, shout for 2 members whose job i need. finally my party config is: Nin Nin Rng Whm Brd Blm.

From all the experience, i find that 2 blink tank is a must for me. Then get another DD which can DoT from far. Brd is there for the nins actually. for mambox2 or speed up the nin. Whm mainly for stona purpose, if not, we could have rdm. Blm well.. you can have a smn, but as i'm the blm. i'm there lol

            Fight strategy:
you will need 6 CCB, Buy from AH, farm, whatever. get some yellow liquid.

Mammet: nin run in, dont provoke, just aggro all 5 mammet. the other nin provoke 1 mammet and the attacker party just kill it quick. whm is to be the 1st nin that ran in, assiting the nin by healer. the whm will not get any hate as 1st nin didnt provoke the mammet. 2nd nin after provoking 1 mammet, run to the very far end opposite the 1st kiting nin, as hate will reset sometime if 2nd nin is near to the kiter nin. after that, it's the same as how you fight during the mammet mission. silence any mage type, and yellow liquid on pole type etc.

Omega: this part.. it's very tricky. most of the guide say use CCB on omega when it's at 20%hp.. well, be flexible. my party used it at 30% or so when we cannot take the ws from omega. Some point to note is, the 2 nin share blink tanking. whm dont over cure , let both the tank have all the hate they can get. if omega is facing the tanks all the time. you know you're winning. BLM, DD dont nuke too much. just chip omega HP slowly, you dont need to rush. when omega hp is around 30%, you may start to feel pain with all the AoE doing damage on nin. make sure brd keep mambo on the nin or "haste" the nin. you can use 1 CCB now. when omega's hp is left around 10%.. do anything to make it die instant, blm ES+Flare, do a SC and MB with AM or whatever. Because when my team wipe in omega, it's always because omega left 1% and keep hate reset, running around with magic shiled on, immune to nuke. that's my only advice. another note is, if you see omega use a paralyze AoE WS early on, it'll probably mean it's gonna use it forever during the fight.. if it's petrification, same thing. so whm can actually predict what it's gonna use, and have the -na ready.

Ultima: if you left 5~6 CCB = sure win. if 4: also sure win, just dont use your CCb too early. for me, my team left with 5 CCB, we did the usual thing, chipping away ultima's HP slowly, used CCB when we felt it's doing more WS than usual, and.. lastly, it died smoothly witout causing too much trouble lol. i remember i ask members to use CCB at omega's hp: 70% 58% 43% 28% and 10%.

about CCB. for us, we let the 2 tank and rng have the CCB each, then the 3 mage will bazaar our own CCB (price was set same with AH , so when we wipe, it wont be sold to other for 1gil accidently). The 3 melee set up a CCB order, who to use first, and after using, which mage to buy the CCB. it's all macro. e.g /check <p1>. we wont want the whm running in to use the CCB, later getting stun or massive damage on an unexpected AoE.

            Key point:
            1. to win, you must have a really really good tank.
            2. dont be overwhelmed by all other strategy on this mission about the time factor. 45mins is actually more than enough if you do it right. NEVER over cure, or over nuke. always check your hate against tanks. let them have omega/ultima's attention. over cure or over nuke is a No No because if omega turn towards mage, it's actually not a problem, unless omega keep doing AoE WS along the way. damaging everyone, whm keep curing everyone back = hate is lose = tank can hardly do his job anymore = everyone running around like clown = wipe
            3. if wipe during mammet: dont reraise, quit it
if wipe during omega: wipe at where you spawn.
if wipe 2nd time during omega: better leave BC
            if wipe during ultima: {I don't know}

            well that's it. after this mission, all the rest was {Too Weak}

i shouted for all my mission, which was a pain really. but the good point is, i have the flexibility to get the jobs i needed for my mission. E.g: i was able to manaburn ouryu mission, which only took about 90 secs or so.
