  • PM 2-5 (Long post)

Okay, so figured I'd post this because we had a fairly unconventional pt setup and thought it would be informative for anyone goin' for this soon.

    First off, pt setup was nin/war rdm/nin rng/nin blm/whm whm/blm and brd/whm

So, we did 2 dry runs withoout using any items or two hours to get a feel for this. We knew we were kinda lacking in setup seeing how we only had one tank and one kiter. So the dry runs definitely helped us win this because of us getting comfortable with the way events unfolded. So here's how it went.

We finally decided to try something a tad risky in that our nin and rdm each kited one mammett and the rng (me) would actually blink tank the first one. Let me tell you this, this battle was hectic, but also the most exciting I've had yet. So, in the beginning of the fight, we all buffed, used RR scrolls, key to this was the 2 hours. Before the nin and rdm went to go claim their two mammetts, whm hasted buffed them, then brd 2 hour'd and gave our 2 kiters Mambo for uber eva and ballad to whm. I got the double minuet for extra ratk to ensure I'd kill the first mammett quick. rdm and nin run out and each grab a mammett, i SS and barraged to get mine's attention and thats when the fun began.

After SS and barrage'n, I dropped EES to ensure I kept its attention. SS+Barrage+EES dropped about 1/3 of the things health, I blink tanked like shihei was goin' outta style and thanks to our awesome brd/blm/whm I was kept above the red for most of the fight. After a tense 5 minutes or so, the combination of me drilling it and the blm Manafont'n and nukin' it brought that bastard down.

So, first one drops, our Nin brings his to us, and we start nailing that one. Unfortunately, through the second fight our whm and blm's mp get dropped to nil and the Nin dies shortly before the second mammett does. I SS and barrage it which finished it off but now we're without a tank for the last scrap. Not only that but all our healers have zero mp. Last fight was VERY tense. rdm tried tanking it but shortly after I started wailing in on it, it turned to me and started putting its cracks in. I died when it was at about 1% health. Our rdm tanked it the last few seconds and ended up killing it.

Now, need-to-know details that attribute to our win. For one, we all pwn. lol For two, whenever you see it morph to drg (It'll have a halberd type weapon) yellow liquid it. It's accuracy sucks, missed me 1/2 the time. Also, I'd macro in a warning to mages and melee for Transmorgrification and Mind Wall. Sometimes only the people on the front line can see it and if the blm is in the middle of droppin a fire 2, well, that could turn the battle in the mammetts favor. We all brought 4-5 hi potions a piece, mages and brd had 3-5 yag drinks each as far as items. I highly recommend to everyone to have the whm RR in the battle then attempt a couple dry runs before using items and 2 hours. Anyway, sry for the long winded post and hope this helps anyone out there havin' issues with these guys.

One more thing, HUGE props to Tessic (Uber RDM kiter/Smart-ass) Petey (King of the RNG's who sometimes plays NIN) Zeuss (The biggest/baddest little taru WHM around) Isendre (Sang her ASS off BRD) Nanfoodle (My uber dmg partner) Awesome job under pressure guys.

actually use the yellow liquid when it is BLM type, and the silence it. My LS did this and it made them into little sissy girls

Correct asnwer is to yellow liquid all mammets at the start. Locks them into Monk (hand to hand) which they are pitiful at. This buys you all kinds of time to kill the first one, and saves your resources for when you really need them.

actually, yellow liquiding them in the beginning wouldn't have been very helpful because it wears off after 30 seconds. Took around 3-4 minutes to kill the first one.

This in my LS next CoP mission as well. I was thinking about having Melees/blm use thier 2hrs on the first one to take it down asap, leaving more room for error with the remaining two. Sound reasonable?

Yeah, that was what we did. Really helps cuz the sooner you can get the first one down, the sooner the kiters have the pressue relieved off of them.

              Re: PM 2-5 (Long post)

              My setup was as follows:

              Pld/war(me), Bst/nin, Bst/nin, Whm/blm, Blm/whm, Mnk/nin

I flashed the center one, the two beasts kited the other Mammets around the entire arena, hate with mammets is odd cause sometimes both mammets would go after just one of the beastmasters.

We didn't have a single Yellow Liquid when we started.

So we fight the first one, and it did the meanest thing possible which was change its job to warrior on us as I tanked it the entire time. Mnk and I did RLB > Raging Fists (Merited h2h gives you Raging at level 40), so we had a bit of an advantage though RLB > Combo works as well. IT transmogrified, and even though most people will tell you to unlock from the mob and turn around, I disengaged and let my shield take as much damage as possible, this is KEY if you're a pld tank, wear a Cavalier's mantle and a Jennet shield, and most of the hits will be taken down at least 50%. After a certain amount of time I just shield bashed it to test whether trans was down.

When the second mammet reached about 10% and transmoged again. Monk used an icarus wing and Raging fisted it, giving back about 200 hp. We thought that was it at that moment, but we took it down eventually after it wore off.

So after the first one dies without any further problems, I went in and provoked the second one, this was a little bit more dicey, the two kiters were having problems holding hate, and their hp was getting pretty low, but I was fortunate enough to get one yellow liquid from the first mammet and I locked it into the monk jobset. As I locked it, it transmoged and I disengaged, but it was still in mnk phase. For some reason it hits a lot faster after the first one was taken down, but my shield *hurray* basically blocked 75% of all hits and reduced the damage from 25-30 to 12-15, and believe me when I say this, they hit FAST.

After trans went down engaged and continued killing, at this point the kiters' hp was low so the whm went away to heal the kiters for the time being. I was very low on resources, and all my drinks had been used, the yellow liquid wore off and it switched to DRG job, and started dealing pretty heavy damage, but shield reduced much of the damage dealt.

The last one was the easiest. After the second one died, I provoked it first, whm benedictioned, then I rolled with the Invincible. We just wailed on it til it died.

Time: 15:28 we beat the record on Hades. Earlier my linkshell brought another group into the fight and they set the original record. This probably is the easiest setup because of the two bsts, but it can get pretty hairy if you screw up.

Edit: I just remembered, it's pretty important that your other DDs (depending on job) sub /nin cause of that sweeping attack that stuns everybody around the mammet, if the tank is stunned, it immediately loses hate on the tank, and it'll go to the other guy. Oh and another thing, only used one yellow liquid.
