Phomiuna Aqueducts Map - Er, what the?

Ok, here's the situation: When doing CoP mission 2-3, you normally come to the storage rooms at the end of this mission in sight of the ??? spot for a map. I'm told that clicking on this spot when it shows up will get you a map of the aqueducts. (Unless, heaven forbid, the spot spawns on the opposite side of the zone and you're stuck waiting for it to repop).

My problem with the above situation is this: I find what I believe is one of the spots around the F-9 region of the map. (No, this is not the ??? for the doors. Yes, I'm sure of this, I tried it several times). As two of these ??? are the only triggers I know of that seem to spawn in this area, I was pretty certain this was it. Yet, after clicking in this room in two separate locations, I get "You see nothing out of the ordinary here".

Am I missing a step here or is the thing broken? Both times I've been here so far, a THF with me has used lockpicks on the door. Both of these times, someone other than said THF has managed to click the exact same spot I am and get the map. Have I missed talking to an NPC somewhere? Is this happening to anyone else? Any suggestions?

For now, I'm just going to plan on camping this room for awhile and hoping it respawns in one of these two locations while I'm offline. Maybe I just need to check it at a different time or something.

Any help you guys could give me on this would be appreciated.

Maybe I'm getting message boards confused.. but didn't I just see this post answered? ^^ Ah well, no matter!

There are two different upstairs areas in the zone, each behind a different locked gate. I've been up in the area where you complete mission 2-3 many times and have never seen the ??? spawn there. Not to say it can't, but it seems pretty unlikely to me.

I do know several people who have found the ??? behind the other locked gate though. If you are on your way to the Minotaur, there is one long room with 3 stegos, a slime, and I think the DRG fomor. In the northeast corner of the room is the gate I'm talking about.

Even still, the map is a fairly incomplete one. If you are simply trying to collect all the maps, cool ... but if you want something useful check out the Vana'Diel Atlas or something. =)

Yeah, that's the "heaven forbid", other side of the zone area I was talking about before. I suppose it'd be possible for me to sneak over as a solo WHM, but I think I'll just keep camping this room unless I'm totally off here. Someone I was with did actually get the map here, so I'm pretty sure it's right, just was wondering on whether I missed talking to an NPC somewhere or whatnot.

I agree with you on the Atlases, there are much better offline sources than the in-game maps. However, I still collect all the ingame maps for 2 reasons:

A. completeness
B. I get lost easily. When I read an offline map, I tend to notice a lot of these hidden tunnels are connections to new maps. Also, zones with several maps, (Crawler's Nest, for example), have lots of overlap. If I'm already lost, it's easier to call up the in game map and try to figure out which map I'm on first, than hitting <pos> and trying to figure out which of the myriad floors of (F-8) I'm currently stuck on. I get a lot of raise requests from people who either don't have maps or don't realize there are multiple maps in these types of zones, so it's kind of important to me to get the quests done.

Anyway, I appreciate your help. Yeah, this probably was asked somewhere else. I searched this forum before I posted, but you may be thinking of Allakhazam or Killing Ifrits if you've been to either of those. People are just so much more helpful and supportive on these boards than at those two sites. Whatever we've paid in troll-repellant has been very well spent.

theres 4 libraries. one of the 4 has the map ??? up at a time. in addition there's several other ??? in the libraries for other quests, door openings, etc.

so i think your problem is one of these:

someone else touched the ??? right before you got there
the ??? was in a different library
you were at the wrong ???
you don't have the quest properly triggered

can't help you much more than that.

You start a quest, or being able to fight Minotaur alows you to get map from ???....?¬>[lol]
