• Promyvion Mea - tips with US vs JP parties

I lost promyvion-holla sorely, but won this one yesterday with a very skilled Japanese party of six...
2x blm/whm
whm/blm
2x war/nin
rng/nin

We finished the entire thing in less than 2 hours (that includes setting up the party, going there, killing it, coming back).

Basically, it's not about the stats or what you have, but about your SKILL in playing this game.
We didn't use our 2 hours, weapon skills, or even an anima. All of our members survived.

I found a lot of tips that the Japanese parties did differently from the American parties that I've done the Promyvion with.
This is what I've noticed:

1. Went with a party of SIX (not alliance)
Resulted in easier navigation with less aggro since people were more easier to manage. When aggroed, we were able to take down all the monsters, including the IT one, by remaining composed and centered.

2. Used foods, drinks, medicines all the time and very frequently.
The mages and tanks were popping expensive food like candy (even+1 items or those HQ item foods) from the BEGINNING when the mobs were still weak. As soon as anyone got Silenced, we didn't wait like idiots shouting "I'm silenced!" but used Eye Drops immediately. By being INDEPENDENT in curing our OWN ailments, and not being cheap by waiting for the mage to cure us, it allowed for smoother navigation and less aggro chances.

3. Reading the chat screen and communication was essential.
This remained true throughout the entire time I was doing Promyvion. Because everyone was listening to each other and to the leader, we knew how to share the hate, wait, and know when the monster was about to do a special attack in advance.

If you read the chat screen, the final boss will say something before it "readies a special attack." The mages read this, so they were curing me even before the attack hit so that I remained in Full HP to continue tanking.

[B]
In killing the boss, you have to be patient. Share your hate, tank, never forget utsusemi or panic. Even if it's at 10% life, dont go overboard and try to nuke it to death. Even if you're whole party is about to die in their red hps, THINK before you act.

Should you cure yourself with a hi-potion before you tank again? Should you put your utsusemi up before you provoke?
Should you sit down and rest before attempting to save another party member, or is it better for you to be alive. ...

This will ruin your share of hate and unless everyone remains composed, the monster will make a special atttack and kill all quickly.

Again, pay attention to the PARTY SCREEN for communication, not the monster. If you're so hooked up on wacking the monster to death, you will miss out on important things the party members are saying, like (.. "let me keep tanking to share the hate a bit," or "come here, etc.)

Food was used in the final boss fight. Mages were constantly drinking yagudo drinks, and I was constantly drinking Pamama au laits for hp regen.

When the boss is about 20% life, it will do these things:
IMPALEMENT : about 422 hp damage
CAROUSEL : about 250 hp damage to everyone in vicinity
\(;'Д’)ノ
If you can't see that japanese face, try View> Encoding > Unicode on IE.

Easiest way to win this BC pre-patch:

RNG/NIN
RNG/NIN
RNG/NIN
WHM/BLM
WHM/BLM
RDM/WHM

or

RNG/NIN
RNG/NIN
WHM/BLM
RNG/NIN
RNG/NIN
RDM/WHM

Our group looked like the first one, except that our RDM had a BLM sub, which ended up being a mistake. You need the status heals... Took us about 45 minutes per crag to get all the way to the top and win the BC. We didn't use any Hi-Potions, though we brought them just in case.

Anyway, 3/4 RNG shoot at the Memory Recepticle out of the aggro range of the strays. Save TP and barrage, don't use it on the recepticle. Keep blink up, because blink eats Memory Seed. Once recepticle is dead, each RNG picks a different stray to kill, Use TP on one, use Barrage on the next, rinse repeat, teleport.

At the BC, RDM gravities the boss, one RNG stays with the RDM at the entrace, and the other 2 RNG move to the Arches in the wings. The second the mob gets within range to hit you, you stop shooting and turn around so your auto-attack doesn't swing at it. Once blink drops at it hits you, you'll lose aggro and one of the other RNG will ahve picked it up. Your assigned WHM can then heal you, you put Blink back up and start firing again.

if your group has 4 RNG it would look more like this:
WHM
RNG1 RNG2

RNG3 RNG4
RDM
The idea here is that the whm/rdm need to be in range to heal the RNG, but out of RNG if the boss uses the AoE on on of the RNG. If RNG3 takes hate, RNG 2 tries to get hate, if RNG1 takes hate, RNG4 tries to take hate, etc.

From what i understand, this BC is really easy post-patch and none of this is necessary. Our party leveled RNG to 30 just to accomplish this set of missions. It was a refreshing change.
