Mermaid's Ring?

OK, so far the info I've gathered about this item is:

Kill 4 Sahagins to get 4 Rare/Ex Mermaid Items.
Trade these items to a NPC Goblin near Kazham who appears on Windsday.
Then go to the marker placed on your map and dig up the treasure.

How do you dig up the treasure? We sat there on a chocobo and used up 3 stacks of Gyashal greens digging but didn't find anything. Does anyone know how to do this quest?

you find a ??? at that point ( must have gone over exact spot for it to appear ), and trade a pickaxe to it.


gl...I got cactus stems...going to try again when my nin hits 40 ish and I get close to needing it.
