  • San d'Oria Mission 12 (Shadowlord)

    so i'm planning on doing this with my ls tomorrow, but nobody is sure on a definitive path to the throne room. ._.;

can somebody post directions (map positions) of where we need to go?

we got to the keep for blm af2, and i remember how to get there.. but still not quite sure how to get to the throne room from there.. i've been looking at maps, and have a good idea.. but i'd like some positive directions from somebody who's done it.

so if anyone could help me out here, i'd appreciate it. thanks :3

What were the jobs and levels of your party? I am trying to organize a party for the shadowlord (I'm a L55 RDM) and I want to know how to go about this...

        We had..

        55 Sam - Elvaan
        55 Pld - Elvaan
        55 Brd - Taru
        55 Blm - Taru
        55 Whm - Taru
        60 War - Hume
        average level: 55.8

        our strategy was fairly simple..

        1st form:
bard gives melees minuet 3 and madrigal 2
bard gives mages ballad 1 and 2

melees pound away the whole time, use ws whenever you have tp (tank should use fish chiefkabob, other melees should use meat chiefkabob).

blm sits until SL goes invincible, whm cures as necessary, anyone with mp should bring yagudo drinks, and use them after their first couple of casts (mages should all use fish chiefkabobs as well).

once SL goes invincible, blm should cast their highest level -ga spells, and level 3 spells if they have them. do NOT cast ancient spells, because they simply take TOO long.
first form is pretty straight forward..

after the first form our blm was at about.. 5/8 mp.. whm was at about 3/8.. pld and brd were both at 1/4 or so. all melees were yellowed.

        2nd form:
this form is pretty much gonna go crazy-nuts on you, and you should return the favor.
bard should give everyone minne 2 and 3.. everyone with mp should use a yagudo drink as he is approaching.

SL came up and used his aoe for 200-300 damage twice, right off the bat in this form.. paladin had to use invinc, and whm used bene. warrior and samurai used 2 hour skill as well (samurai 2 hour skill alone knocks this form down to about half health) blm focused on keeping people healed, whm used DS curaga III when everyone went orange after another 2 AoE attacks.. sam used meditate for another jinpu.. SL was at about 15% health, blm started nuking again.. firaga 2 and stone 3 killed him.

if i knew what element his AoE was.. i'd tell you to put on bar-??? and ???-carol.. because all this form does is spam that AoE every 8-10 seconds..

so that's what we did =x hope it helps

i'm referring mainly to all of the NA beta people who, when i asked for help, responded with "nobody in beta could do it with a party of 55, what makes you think we'd stand a chance?".

            so yeah :p

wow you had a hard time, when i fought sl it was me(drg) pld, rdm, whm, brd, blm and we beat the crap out of him. No two hours were used except for the bards. and his AOE was only doing 100 to me and the pld

                        quick question

is it true what "FFXI MysterTour" said about the ShadowLord fight?

                        http://mysterytour.web.infoseek.co.j...n/01m-san5.htm

                        Special Attack

                        1. Dark Nova (Spread area attack) - Tanks receive about 100 damage,
players on the back receive about twice as much.
                        2. Ambra Smash - Tanks receive about 100 damage, players on the back
                        receive about twice as much.
                        3. Giga Slash - Tanks receive about 200 damage, players on the back
                        receive about twice as much.
                        4. Kick - Tanks receive about 250 damage, players on the back receive
                        about twice as much.

So that explains why that mithra whm (on that M5-2 shadowlord fight video) was doing meleeing. So how do you med during the fight (even if you have bard, and RDM support) when the MP hits zero? Or not med at all?

As the RDM of my party, I supposed I couldve used convert, but didnt have to. Also, neither of the WHM or the BLM in my party had to med much, since we had enough MP to heal and nuke. We also were L60-64 party, so he wasnt that much of a fight, just the AoEs were annoying...
