  • Returning :D

I use to be on Midgardsormr but somehow my character is now on Cerberus (should be Quetzalcoatl), but oh well. Doubt it'll matter.

I'm starting FFXI back up tomorrow or monday with a friend... we're going to primarily duo (he's starting from scratch; I'll be leveling aside him - have a high 60 & low lvls) and wanted to be apart of LS with like-minded individuals (mainly friendly/casual)... or at least have some people to chat with ingame. We'll primarily be on 6 PST+ weekdays and a good chunk of the day on weekends.

Only guy I saw on Cerberus with a quick look through the forums was Squiggs... I'd send him a pm but I need 5 more posts Anyone else from Cerberus?

The major change I've noticed, from reading/viewing forums, is the whole leveling structure is completely different. 1-30 GoV/FoV (don't even think they existed when I played last), then leech up 30-99 assuming you can afford it.

    Re: Returning :D

You can either do alliance GoV's @ Gusgen from your teens to 30, followed by the same procedure to 60 at Crawler's Nest, and then 60-75(or whenever you can get into an Aby group) at Bostineau Oubliette. Of course, Aby at any point after 30 is possible provided you know the right people or want to pay their obscene amount (it's like 500k/4 hours on Valefor...no clue about your server).

Personally I'm more of a solo/low-man person so I've been just doing easy prey GoV's at weird places like Sea Grotto and such; just look up the wiki and find mobs that con easy prey to you, and do those. I can usually finish a page within 5 minutes max and they tend to start @1000-1200exp a pop, and max out at nearly 2k--easy easy leveling. I went from 41 to 50 within I think like 3-4 hours last night; not nearly as fast as a GoV alliance, but meh.

Did 1-30 on my monk last night

I do have a 69 bard to do the lvl 70 limit (I've heard some nasty stories about it and I don't have much in terms of gear/skills/etc.)... I think I'll just level my WHM (primarily to do the limit and also use sometimes for endgame).

        Re: Returning :D

If you have WHM levelled and use it for endgame, chances are it won't just be sometimes. You'll be on it all the time.

I remember now that I did Maat on Brd because it was so easy. Not sure whose giving you horror stories on the Brd fight ><.

Cap sword as much as possible
Sleep potion and Opo opo neckalace to 300 TP.
Go in and hit him with Spirits Within
Pop an Icarus wing and do it again.
Fight/WS/Potion when needed and you’ll win.

I think you need a stack of selbina butter also because when he finales you, it will remove the regen effect (from butter) instead of songs.

Most of that stuff is a lot easier than you may remember. Better weapons/gear….etc

            Re: Returning :D

My friend will be needing to do the 75 limit eventually. Didn't realize DNC (same with pup/cor/sch/blu) needs AF quests completed in order to do the 75 limit.

Which classes have it the easiest for the 75 limit? (without needing to skill up ridiculously)

Bard, Beastmaster, Black Mage, Dark Knight, Dragoon, Monk, Ninja, Paladin, Ranger, Red Mage, Samurai, Summoner, Thief, Warrior or White Mage

I was able to do the WHM one with all skills under 100.

              Re: Returning :D

i guess whm but you'll at least have to buy some spells for it.

or maybe thf? not 100% sure but I thought you just needed to successfully steal from maat (which having +steal gear helped). and Thf uses daggers as does Dnc.

not totally sure these days. when i did Maat you needed high skills...and i didnt have some of the abiliites jobs do now.

                Re: Returning :D

I just came back last night (07/27/12). In the little time I had before I went to wok, I hot WBM to 37 (highest job at the moment). While I want to go back to being COR > NIN > THF, I am doing WHM just to ag least break Level 70 (when the time comes). If you have a LS and wouldn't mind a non-annoying member, please invite me. Started a whole new account as "Janay" in-game on Cerberus. I'll be online after 11:45pm Central Time. Thanks.
