I've been thinkin about coming back to FFXI to curb boredom and check out the new updates and such, but from what I've been reading things have taken a turn for the worse. I've been hearing that the game has only gotten crappier. Is this true?

I've gotta decide between going back to good ol' ffxi, and trying out Skyrim as I've heard quite a bit about it, but I've never actually tried it.

Thoughts?

Go get Skyrim dude. It is a vastly superior use of your time while you wait for Guild Wars 2 to come out.

SE is in full random number generator fetish mode at the moment. I'm not really seeing anything that interests me post-Abyssea.

I agree with Cid here.

Skyrim is the best choice by far, but if your really honestly need a MMOG fix while GW2 comes out then try XIV in addition to Skyrim.

Yeah, I think FFXIV is like 9.99 on Amazon now. You get a free month to go with it...well, I think you still do anyway. A few of us recently went back to it; it's a whole lot better than it was back in September 2010...at least I think so.

Yeah, the more I read into the new updates and such the more Skyrim till GW2 is looking attractive. It's a damn shame, too. I was really hoping this had improved. Although I may give FFXIV a shot. I've heard some god awful things about it, but I've also heard that it's actually starting to become a good game

Based on what you have played of it so far, is it enjoyable now? Better than XI?

Not sure if it's better yet but it's getting there fast, XI on the other hand seems to be on it's way down.

And like I said to a new member of the forums just yesterday, all the awful things you heard about XIV are probably true, but that was way back when Tanaka and Co. left the mess for YoshiP to fix. XIV nowadays is pretty enjoyable. And new features and fixes are being added often enough, so it's a nice way to waste some time while waiting for 2.0 and GW2.

So far, I love the game. I find it better than xi for many reasons. I just don't like the dark shroud zone lol

I LOVE the battle system. I hope they don't change it too much

I think I'm gonna give FFXIV a try and if I don't enjoy, I'm just gonna skyrim it out till GW2. Thanks guys.

PS > Although the game is dirt cheap at $10 bucks for the download (includes the usual 1 month of play) and for 30 bucks you get the collector's edition (pretty nice at that price, it includes a XIV token in case you don't have it already or want to have a replacement ready and some other misc things.)
