Which area of Abyssea is the best and why?

I have returned to the game I love most. Yes, yes FFXI but so many things have changed. Parties don't exist anymore in the dunes for whatever reasons. I understand that Abyssea is the big party area now. I have a 89 BST, 86 DRK, 62 RNG and four level 45's WAR,NIN,DNC,WHM. So, educate me on Abyssea people?

That's like asking which area of dynamis or limbus is best. There are different mobs and rewards in each, and if you want to finish a set of empyrean armor you're going to need all of them. If you're asking for experience purposes, most leveling takes place in Heroes areas. That's Grauberg/Uleguerand/Altepa.

Since I have been playing I haved noticed at least on my server Odin. The huge linkshells don't exist anymore. I have tried a few but the most I have seen in them are about 10 ppl. I have also noticed ppl don't want me in there group because of the jobs that I have. Everyone seems to want a WHM or SUM. Anyway, it is all good. I will find away to fit in again. Time stops for no one lol...

Low level parties no longer exist because Fields/Grounds of Valor make the first 30 levels extremely easy to solo (or leech -_-.

I think there are a few huge linkshells still. But, most everything can be done with just a few people. Speaking in a general sense, the jobs you have are next to useless to an Abyssea group. Anything DRK or BST can do in a group setting, WAR can already do.

BST can still do quite well though in small groups, just ask Romyro.

That's because you don't need more than about 6 people (or, honestly, less) to do anything you need in this game. People figured that out, and thus unless it's a social LS, you won't find a ton of people in any one shell.

BST has never been a party favorite, as you probably know, and DRK is not very useful in Abyssea's metagame, so yeah people aren't going to be huge on inviting you.

The current top jobs are MNK WHM WAR NIN, BLM, THF, and sometimes BLU. Everything else is secondary, or not wanted at all, due to Abyssea's proc system. Now for content outside of Abyssea, other jobs still have a purpose, and to be quite honest, even inside Abyssea, the other jobs aren't exactly useless. They just aren't as efficient for what people need to get things done.

Yeah, I keep being told that I can be a holder. I just find it to be useless. I went twice to an abyssea party and I just felt like I was doing nothing or not helping at all. I told the leader thanks but I was going back to campaign to level. I just felt I was dead weight with both my high level jobs.

I would love to be in XP parties but these past two parties were actually NM parties.

Then I can understand your feeling of uselessness. In XP it doesn't really matter what you bring.

Have extra warm bodies to hold key items is actually very helpful, just also very boring.

Also, as boring as it is, you kind of have to join NM parties and be a bit useless until you get better gear. The Abyssea gear and Atmas are going to go a long way towards actually making you useful. And BST in Aby can be a very strong soloer.

So, I should just suck it up and get the gear in the parties then? Hmmm I will think about it then... I need BST and DRK gear anyway...

You have an 89 BST and never exp'd in Abyssea? That is pretty surprising.
