Top 10 things to do after coming back after a few years?

Hi all,

I retired (forcibly - 3D Secure) in 2009 but with the changes to payments next month it looks like I'll be able to come back.

So while I know about the obvious stuff like Abyssea, Magian Trials and new spells/levels, I'm not sure about anything else.

What do you think a returning player may not know about?

Examples include: quests that were really annoying or tough years ago but can be soloed now (Promy maps?).

All that needs to be known about that is most of the people that moved on to FFIV returned to play FFXI instead.

They went through white-box withdrawal and had to return. Once they're done feeling like the kings of a game that no longer has a soul, they'll come back to FFXIV.

I'm not sure I can list 10, but Promy maps (and almost all of CoP, for that matter) are certainly soloable. I watched a BST solo the pots for 8-3 last week. I was pretty impressed. Swift Belt is soloable for any job now. Nation missions are mostly soloable now (and may have been before). Just about anything really.

Once they're done feeling like the kings of a game that no longer has a soul, they'll come back to FFXIV.

1. Clean your Mog House.
2. Relocate your friends.
3. Try to remember what you were planning to do before you quit.
4-10. End up doing none of the above and run around a zone for several minutes.

This is basically what I do everytime I come back after my xbox breaks.

What Neverslip said. If XI lost its soul, XIV wasn't properly given one to begin with. It's really less about game vs game, though, than community vs community. One game has one. Whatever floats your boat, though. I don't care what you play.

What to do coming back .. uhh missions if you haven't already. Pretty much all of them can be duoed or trioed now. Those storylines are still the highlight of XI's content, imo. Participate in besieged and/or campaign battle, especially if they didn't exist before you left. The rewards got jacked way up the other day. I got 15k from my last besieged. Might want to try some GoV solo/duo so you can see how absurdly easy it is to get exp now vs the old days, before you go into abyssea and get even more spoiled on the ridiculous speed of exp there.

Participate in besieged and/or campaign battle, especially if they didn't exist before you left. The rewards got jacked way up the other day. I got 15k from my last besieged.

May I ask what were you doing that netted you 15k? Is it possible to max out by curing? Just wondering if its viable for low lvl exp.

15K exp? Wow. I remember when we were lucky to get 1K or so. Thanks for the tips all.

May I ask what were you doing that netted you 15k? Is it possible to max out by curing? Just wondering if its viable for low lvl exp.

I went in as a level 80 blue mage, spamming head butt, magic fruit and frightful roar while keeping cocoon and refueling on myself. Nothing special.
