Possible returning player

First off I'll say this, I used to play this when I was in high school (started in 2003, played til around the end of 04 and stopped). I'm considering getting the ultimate pack and coming back (after years on WoW and whatnot).

So I'll ask a general what should I expect now? I made it to about level 50 before when it was just after the first expansion, then stopped. If I come back now, would I be completely lost? How is the community as far new players/returning players from years ago treat people? Am I jumping into a forest of high end content elitist players non-interested in anything but grinding for gear? Or is there still enough low level players to make it fun? Also, are the xbox and pc servers merged or different?

Tell it to me straight folks, you'll probably be my deciding factor in coming back.

As somebody who's recently come back, I'll try to answer as best I can.

Firstly, there have been a lot of changes that have made it real easy for low level players to get going quickly. Fields of Valor, Grounds of Valor, and Level Sync have made sure you can always find something to help you level.

As far as the community, go here, join us. The linkshell I linked to is dedicated to new and returning players, and I can tell you there are a good variety of players on at any given time.

As for the servers, they've always been the same ones, regardless of platform, since the game first launched. One of the cooler features of the game if I do say so myself.

Well thanks for the quick reply! I just so happened to stumble upon this site by surfing and saw the LS you linked. Its the reason I made an account actually.

I suppose I'll have to get the game and see all the changes cause coming from 2004 I'm sure there will be too many to count.

And yeah I wasn't sure about the xbox and pc servers in the first place I guess haha.

I'm assuming you can pick your server now? When I started it was random.. though I'll most likely be making a new account because I'll be picking up that Ultimate pack, which leads to another question.

The most recent ultimate pack is the one with Abyssea in it correct? And I saw someone post about the billing cycle issue saying if I start now, I'll be billed for a whole month of May and billed again normally at the start of June? Confusionnnn haha >_<

Starting from a new account, if you started today you should get one month free, then billed for 6 days out of next month, then charged for whole months after that. Coming out of your free trial is the one and only time they will pro-rate your monthly fee, iirc. If you were reactivating then you would be charged for the whole month even if you only got one day.
