Question on the payment system

Is FFXI still using that backward system where it bills you for a month and then you can only play for however many days are left in the month you start in?

As in, if I were to buy the new Abyssea collection coming out on the 16th, if I made my account that same day would I be charged for a full month but only able to play until the end of May?

EDIT: Also, I've beenr eading about some new feature added to the payment system since I last played, something about needing a bank account related to the credit card? Does this mean I won't be able to use a prepaid credit card like I used to?

Very late to the party, I am. <_<;

SE seems to be using the same system as always, haven't seen anyone on the internetz reporting any changes and they did the same the always do when I came back to game some time ago. So more likely than not it is still the same system as always.


About cards it has to do with the Verified crap like Visa 3D or something and Master Card's (whatever the name is) system too. If the card you use is not compatible with those then chances are you wont be able to use that card to pay.

So far I've only seen complains from clients of some obscure banks I've never heard off. More known banks seem to have sorted this out for their Visa/Mastercard card quite some time ago.
