  • hmmm...forgive me!

    Just had a few questions...

First of all, I played since the release of 11. About 3-4 years, then quit after Sky... I went to WoW for a few years, didn't really care for that, then just recent,y switched to Rift... & that is losing its excitement. Are there any long time players here? Is the game still similiar to when you would camp Roc? And The Dunes were a horrible mess? Or has the game completely changed?

Also- is there still a semi-large player base? Anyone have any estimates, to how many people still play? I'm not asking cause of the new one, just asking to see if there are still a lot of players around.

Lastly- is the game & all expansions available for ps2?
I heard the game was available on ps3, but I'm not finding much about that, could be cause I'm browsing from my phone at school. :/ if so- what do I need for the ps3 version?

Any help would be more than appreciated!

I actually set up a LS just for people like you.

Follow the link in my signature to learn more about it... but it's a LS for new and returning players on Valefor server. We're about 40+ members strong with a very active member base here on this forum. If you follow the directions at the bottom of that link, you'll gain access to our private sub-section where you can introduce yourself and get to know all the other members.

We're always accepting new members... and now would be a perfect time to join. We're having a LS meeting tomorrow afternoon where you'll get to meet just about everyone.

Yes. There is still a very large player base. It's largely a result of the server mergers we've had (twice now) that have consolidated people into a smaller number of servers.

    In short. Yes.

You'll need to first find out if your PS3 system is a model that can do it. If your system is a LARGE model 60gig, 80gig or 120gig model that was made prior to 2 years ago, the answer is yes... yes you can play ffxi on it.

You'll need to go to the PSN store and download the PS2 emulator package they put in there. Once you download that. You'll need to install FFXI via your PS2 discs like you would with the PS2. It's fairly straight-forward. Some sites say that you need to have your PS3 hardwired into your internet connection and that it won't work on a wireless signal. This is false. I installed and play FFXI via my PS3 sometimes and do so via a wireless signal.

Ok... I will check out your LS information when I get to my laptop.

As far as hooking it up-
Just buy the ps2 discs, & load them onto my ps3? (In Short)

Download and install the PS2 format file from the Playstation network first... but yes... simple as that.

The newest one is not being released for the PS2 if I'm thinking correctly.

Hmm...Why didn't they make the expansion back for PS2? Like they did w/ PC & X-Box...I hear they might be releasing all for PS2 in May? Is this true?

PS2 TOAU - Final Fantasy XI Online: Treasures of Aht Urhgan [PlayStation 2 Game]

PS2 Wings of the Goddess - Wings of the Goddess PS2 - Google Search

Now if you meant the three addons and Abyssea, those are bought through POL and directly downloaded from there.

Also - probably can't do anything til the PS3 system is back up, after the hack. Huh?

Unless you have a compelling reason to stick to the console version I would go ahead and go for the PC version. It's a lot less of a headache.
