Missed this game, considering coming back.

So, I bought the steam value pack for 5$ to get everything, but still kicking around the idea if I really want to start -playing- it. Last time I had a friend to play with, to explore with, I was the healer, she was the tank- life was good.

But now it's just me, and I'm feeling finky about it all. Keeping up with the forums as to who is newer is a little tricky, so if anyone else is just getting started or wants a tag along buddy to sync down to- hit me up.

Aiming for my SMN/WHM again.

Hey I'm in the same boat. used to play a while ago only made it to lvl 28 or so but I just bought the steam pack as well. I'm down for starting a toon on the same server if you want. If I remember right, this game is brutal without a good group to play with.

Since it's the Holidays I am not going to have much time until early January so that could give us more time to find some more like minded people and arrange a schedule.

Just let me know what you think. I was planning on playing a Hume but I haven't really decided on a job yet.

Did you give FFXIV a try yet? It would be much easier to dive into a game thats fairly new, then trying to catch up on a game thats been out for over 8 years. FFXI was a great game tho, so I dont blame you for wanting to return ^^.

Isn't SE still fixing FF14, and that's why it's free of monthly fee at the moment?

Play FF14 if you want something that's pretty but cheap(ly made? lol). FF11 would be more challenging to reach the max level (currently at Lv.90), but there is also (much much) more content here.

Play FF14 if you want something that's pretty but cheap(ly made? lol). FF11 would be more challenging to reach the max level (currently at Lv.90), but there is also (much much) more content here.

Actually in terms of how many levels yes its more challenging, but if the level caps were the same FFXIV is way more difficult to reach max than FFXI was. Yes it is true they are fixing it, but almost everything that was originally wrong with it has already been fixed. The only difference is its easier to get from 1-20 in FFXIV than FFXI. When you get to 30+ tho it becomes a lot more challenging. Not in a way where its actually hard to leve, more or less in a way where there is so much exp you need to gain to level.

I know I cant force anyone to try the game, but it would be nice if people actually thought for themselves and tested it out in its current state. All they need to do is find a friend who plays it for a gold world pass (or ask on the forums) and test it for free (without having to buy the game). Instead of running around posting all these negative things about the game without even trying it.

I don't think I'm wrong in characterizing FF14 as the new shiny with shallow contents and many problems still; don't take my word for it--even SE doesn't think it's worth the monthly fee. The state of FF14 is basically a shoddy release turned into a prolonged public beta test.

(By the way, it seems unfair of you trying to lure people to FF14 without telling them upfront it's basically an unfinished product.)

On the other hand, FF11 is the old steward with years and years worth of content and fairly polished game mechanisms. It has its share of issues, of course, but its play value is a proven, and the player community is solid.

You are wrong oh so very wrong. First of all the problems with FFXIV are being fixed over time a lot of them already fixed. Secondly the monthly fee is not because they dont think the game is worth it, they want to ensure things are fixed before they start charging people. That in itself shows their dedication to game.

The development team for FFXIV at release was to blame for all the problems. Thank goodness we now have FFXI's dev team and you guys are stuck with the shitty developers. I dont know how much clearer it can get, FFXI is on the back burner now.

Its nice to see you dont think for yourself either. You let other people do the work for you. How childish. You name one game for me that had any sorta content in "endgame" at release? Not very many I would say, At least nothing worht mentioning. furthermore the game has tons of content leading up to rank 50. You wouldn't know that tho since you haven't the first clue about FFXIV other than what you are being "told".

Another note, just because a game is new does not mean its not amazing in its own respects. FFXI started out horrible if you can even think back that far, hell who knows if you were even playing MMO's then. Look at it now it fixed itself and turned out to be a wonderful game. There is no reason anyone should deny FFXIV of the same respect.

Enough of this. I've never said SE didn't fix any problem with FF14, but at the end of the day, is it a product SE can charge monthly fee for at the present?

The answer? Not, yet.

Unfinished work is unfinished. Don't pretend it's anything other than what it is.

Personally, the most fun I've ever had in FFXI is when I was leveling and playing a Blue Mage. So much fun to be had with that class!

At 90 ... and with all these crazy new toys... DNC is freakin' epic.

I'm in a new LS that actually respects DNC and wants DNC at events but ... they have so many that mine is not typically needed. I tell you, it's feast or famine; and when it's finally feast, everyone is too full for the dish I brought.

Just got all of the DNC AF3 set except feet for a male Hume... looks freakin' sweet. It's got tuxedo tails!!! Haven't seen a female DNC rolling with AF3 body yet but I'm super stoked they went, well... a less flamboyant fashion for (male) DNC this time around. Tired of looking like a matador with a pension for ruffles and flowers.

Abilities, traits, gear.. stuff.

Attributes going up. Different subjobs easier to consider since DNC gets Dual Wield now. I'm seriously considering the lvl'n of WHM now... god knows what else. Free from the confines of NIN (mostly) feels amazing. Shadows still come in handy, very much so, when tanking.

Divine Waltz 2 is freakin' amazing. Curing Waltz V hits people for tons of HP. Presto doubles the effectiveness of your next Step (2lvls debuff + xtra Finishing move). With Climactic Flourish you get critical hits and Featherstep reduces the mob's evasion to critical hits. Striking Flourish I haven't tried yet but it forces the next attack to be a Double Attack.. even a WS. Keep forgetting about it. SE really haven't gotten another Samba out for a long while so somethings gotta be otw, I'd hope. Another Haste and Drain samba between 90-99 would be very welcome.

The gear SE is allowing DNC access to is pretty amazing. Their AF3 "Empyreon" gear looks shmexy both aesthetically and stat-wise. Trial of Magians was good for most if not all jobs. The daggers you can get are {Impossible to Gauge). The stats you're able to get on some weapons are a DNC wet-dream. Prices on older still amazing and usually needed gear gear is way down in price. Only thing I think SE has failed at for my DNC so far is that nothing really goes with my Goblin Coif.

Wow that is amazing :O makes me miss FFXI a little but not enough to come back haha since my account is gone ; ;
Oh and I have a lot of fun in FFXIV, I just wish they made those changes back when I used to play.
