  • Coming back after two years. Brought a few questions with me.

Hey folks, have some quick questions, precise answers (and links if possible) would be greatly appreciated.

There's a lot of confusion going on for me as previously I had not done a lot of the content so here's what I'm looking for...

    - Full missions guides for Bastok, Zilart, Promathia, Treasures, Wings
    - Explanation of the three "episodes" that you can buy? I'm particularly confused here
    - Easy to understand information on all forms of currency (conquest, mercenary info) and related items
    - Any newly introduced teleportation methods
    - All forms of mog safe/satchel/box/house etc... to store items
    - Guides to chocobo raising, racing, and digging
    - Guides to synthesis rules and recipes
    - Leveling guides
    - Info on requirements/fights with Diabolos and Fenrir
    - Detailed class information on Dancers, Scholars, Blue Mages, Summoners, Dragoons, and Samurai (i.e. - things that occured to them in the past two years)
    - Info on the "socketing" system that is occuring/occured
    - Info on Level Syncing
    - Opinions and options about my server - Titan, and if transfers are an option if things do not work out well.
    - A good, up to date renkei/skillchain chart
    - A concise progression route of level 75+ content (Tu'lia, Gods, Sea access, Dynamis, the past etc... all very confusing to me at the moment)

Now most of that information I'll look up on my own, or have investigated on my own to some extent so far.

Part of the problem that I've ran into though is that a lot of the information I'm coming across is very dated. I.E. was written back when I was playing. I'm not so much looking for answers to all of that, so much as anything you can offer... be it those prized gem websites that are so helpful to one particular area, or advice/ideas/information that I should know after being out for so long.

And two last questions, could I obtain both Fenrir and Diabolos as a 65 DRG, or do I need to be higher? And is it true that if you sync levels or are under a level cap, that your gear will scale down with you?

I appreciate anything and everything you folks can offer!

Most of topics can be answer with one or two search term each at: wiki.ffxiclopedia.org

Version Updates (Yes, I'm serious; why should we summarize for you when you are the one who knows exactly which info would interest you; if you don't want that much info, just look at each job individually and see what each ability/trait/spell does.)

    Too general; narrow them down.

    No idea what you mean.

There's not a single path, but you need
    Lv.65 (75 preferable): Dynamis
Lv.75: to finish missions for Zilart, Promathia, Aht Urhgan, Assault, and presumably for Altana (not absolute requirement, but makes things a lot easier)

Ultra-abbreviated version: get to Lv.75+, then go for Sky, Sea, and Dynamis access.

I hate people who leech, so I'm going to say "No, you need to be Lv.75 (or higher)," even though it's not technically true.

Yep, with some limitations. Check the FFXIclopedia entry for "Level Sync" for details.

Hugely appreciate the time you took to reply to that, and the quick responses. Today I'll most likely read through the updates from the previous 2-3 years. I may have a few questions later on, but I appreciate the ffxipedia link, huge help and didn't know it existed.

Here's hopin now that I can find a group!

Re: Coming back after two years. Brought a few questions with me.

Ive also just returned from a 2 year or so absence primarily because my server, which was slow was merged. As a people person I thought it would be nice to meet some new people. I am still exploring some of the newer stuff. While its not really new, but just a similar thing in a new place I am having a blast again.

Some of the stuff I have found interesting is level sync, FoV, VNM, Northern Campaign Battles, and the mini xpacks. The game has gotten slightly bigger yet smaller, getting from point A to B is easier with Kupo Powers. Leveling solo is no longer just a drain it is a drain with perks.

Campaign battle can give some interesting rewards in Unions, such as expensive crafting materials, or dyna currency.

ACP ( a crystaline prophecy) was very enjoyable to me, I really liked the story of it, and the missions were mainly achievable solo or in small groups. The various random rewards given at the end of every mission pretty near were a nice welcome as well. Some neat stuff. I can't wait to get into AMK or ASA.

Level Sync is awesome, it is so awesome I can describe how nice it is. Nothing has been a bigger boost to this game imo. LFG times drastically reduced. The only draw back is skilling up is not doable if you are syncing far back, but all in all it is great.

FoV for solo or party is nice, an extra boost of exp, some gil, and some nice buffs. Everyone can get free reraise, refresh, regen, food, you can even warp to home nation from any zone with a book provided you have enough tabs.

All in all I am pleased I came back It has been a rather enjoyable experience with more yet to come as we are on the cusp of level cap raising new mini xpacks and overhauls of some untravelled zones.

Only thing I wish was that it wasn't the same 7 jobs wanted for merits and endgame. Im sad SE still hasn't found a way to balance the jobs more to make the appealing to take. So SAM WAR RDM COR DRG BRD only for merits, and SAM RDM COR BRD BLM PLD for endgame is getting old, hopefully though new exp camps usher in that old style of play where you had to be smart and in a solid group to get good exp, and not mindlessly bashing the same pink birds for 40 levels + merits.

Don't worry too much about this, level cap increase imminent. New leveling/merit camps to follow.

Good info there as well Mageo! My appreciation.

I also apologize for the newbie-ness of my original post. In hind-sight it seems almost obvious on the tools to research what to look up and so on. I should've phrased my post in that I'm mainly looking for info connected to the topics that might be hard to find, or should be known up front... you know, trade secret kind of information.

Still yet, appreciate the big posts/replies. Thanks fellas.

One followup question - when talking end-game, is this still 6 man content, or are the alliances needed for some areas (thats 3 groups correct?)?

I don't know what you're talking about; the jobs you've listed are popular, but endgame is hardly limited to them.

I do Limbus, Dynamis, Salvage, Einherjar, Sky, Nyzul Isle/Assault, and I see THF, WHM, SCH, SMN, DRG (and more DRG), DRK, NIN, RNG, and MNK all the time. Even have DNC in Dynamis, from time to time.

Heck, I've ask for PUP for ZNM before. (The person refused because it was too much muling. lol.)

Re: Coming back after two years. Brought a few questions with me.

And the most common shouts for jobs you see wanted in endgame, are none of those, just like meripo sure you may see them from time to time, but they are hardly first pick.

WHM -> Good for Pro V, otherwise RDM/WHM can cover everything + Refresh
SCH -> Klimaform- Covered by a Cor
                DRK-> Without a Kclub or Apoc....next
DRG-> Flavor of the month everone is leveling it (even me)
NIN -> Evaision Tank for somethings is nice, for some things
RNG-> throwing stuff without using it rocks
MNK-> Chi blast, once and a while
DNC-> hmmm, hmmmm I guess if you 80% haste for your sams sure
                THF-> you need 1 for TH4

Im not trying to be a dick or say don't level such and such job, but if you want to get caught up and get their fast

RDM,BRD,SAM,COR will just about do you for anything you want to do. It is sad, but thats the way she goes everything else plays second fiddle or niche roll.

                  Erm. Shouts? Endgame?

                  Newbie endgame LS, I guess?

That's a pretty big exaggeration, considering that my Sky LS typically fight the sky gods (shijin) and Kirin (the old fashion way) without BRD or COR--and SAM is optional. Think only my Einherjar group considers BRD and COR must have's.

Also, I've done plenty of Sea, Limbus, Assault, and Nyzul Isle w/out BRD or COR, that's for sure, and pretty much where ever SAM was used, almost any other DD would've worked, too.

BTW, COR is really the second fiddle--a very, very nice second fiddle, but rarely essential.

You want in on a reputable endgame/event LS? Have a solid reputation, and always behave like a decent human being. My Dynamis LS needs WHMs more than DDs (we've got DDs to spare), but a SAM-only person got in because he was in a very slow merit party with the LS leader a week or so ago, but he didn't abandon the party or fake d/c.

That decency impressed the LS leader, and now he's in.

You have got to be kidding. This is some kind of joke right? The only thing Whm has over Rdm is Protect V?

Just to be clear, he asked about End Game as a whole. He did not say Merit Parties only.

WAIT just a dern minute right there buddy!

                      Pro V?
I don't know what 'endgame' you do, but that part of the debate ends here.

Let's put whm in a spotlight when it comes to endgame usefulness, which stretches a little beyond Genbu and lolibri parties.
                      - Shell V (Fully merited)
                      - Bar Spells (With supporting merits and gear)
                      - Bigger cures and more Cure potency gear.
                      - Status removal
                      - Raise III
                      - Devotion
                      - Martyr

The only reason a whm should even merit Protect V is just to have the spell.

Any of the other named jobs want to take a shot at this guy?

Actually, we use /PUP for Ob; don't need a full PUP for that.

I think I asked for PUP for Anantaboga. Our standard strategy used BLMs as the main source of damage, but they'd usually end up as Anantaboga's target, and have to zone. Which is fine, except the COR rolls would drop off of them, so the COR had to zone himself to remove rolls off of himself and reapply (if the timer is up). This gets quite annoying with 3+ BLMs all zoning at different times.

PUP would be able to stay in zone and nuke, and have less enmity problems. At least, I that was my thinking, but didn't get to test it.
