    I'm back from outerspace

    OK so I began playing this game on its release date an o so long time ago... I believe I was 13 at the time... played a Galka white mage black mage summoner beastmaster and dark knight. i loved this game played it for 3 years... then went to WoW...

    Got my WoW account stolen after 4 years playing it... 15 level 80's flushed down the drain and a bunch of other crap happened and my account won't ever be restored...

    So I decided to sit back and think to myself and remembered that while playing WoW I was always trying to find FFXI players to chat to... was always talking about seraph server and the naked level 20 gold farmer groups farming the crabs in the sand dunes and of course standing on their dead corpses for 30 minute's with my level 75 white mage laughing to myself...

    Best game ever and I'm coming back.... Just looking for some good servers to go to for new players leveling up. I don't expect it to be quite like it was back in the day... 15 levels a day grouping non-stop... but at least a hefty population of people always leveling different classes. would be nice.

    So which are the good servers? is seraph still doing ok?

    I'm not from Seraph, so I can't speak about it. Alexander has a decent sized player base, but most of the parties are either eraly morning, or at 7Pm EST. Its got a fairly big player base that are willing to help others as well.

      I'll check it out... just got everything downloaded... hopefully I can have some fun time memory lapses... If not its probally because I'm an Ex-ps2 user and doing this on a computer is already different... completely

        I actually found out it was better on a PC than on the PS2. It is different, but the controls are a bit better IMO. The Macros fire off faster, no need to scroll from left to right while holding down the L2, and R2 buttons. You can even surf the web when you are a DD in a party, only if you have the screen split, like FFXI on the left, web on the right. Works fairly good. And if you ever need any help, you can just go to ffxiclopedia.org a bit easier as you only need to switch screen, rather than turn on the PC, and have to wait for it to start up.

        Only down fall though, is that you can't get surround sound with a PC. lol

          Yea... still trying to figure out the controls... just remembered ctrl+ - from playing on my brothers comp o so long ago to pull up the main menu... can't quite remember how to get the options up to turn fullscreen off.. I hate it when games take over my whole screen

            lol, nice name. I like it. XD Not sure if bst still does have all that hate... *Shrugs*. They can still solo fairly good. I can sent you a tell on my char since I'm still in game atm lol.

              You do know that PS2 and PC use the same keyboard commands, right? i.e. You can fire off the macro from the PS2 using the keyboard, just like the PC.

              And you don't have to hold down the L2/R2 unless switching pallets; just click once, and the macro pallet stays on screen.

              Oh, and it's perfectly fine to use a PS2 style controller on the PC--I do it.

              Hitting the wrong critter, taking 20 seconds to engage, don't follow the target when it moves, sitting on 300% TP because something is interesting on the Youtube.

              OP: Do yourself a favor, and ignore Takelli's "advice". Pay attention in parties, whichever job you are on.

                lol. Thats why I split the screen,s o I see whats comeing, and always engage the right mob, and engage it right away. If you do it right, you don't have any issues with your party. I don't do it on my rdm though. Never will.

                  Changed it up I'm now a Fatty Galka on Alexander server... same name... decisions are so hard to make.

                  Back n the day I played a alot of characters but my main was a galka called Bigmage

                  I remember getting alot of hate leveling up as a whitemage and blackmage and seeing as how the game seems to have died down to the more X-core of players was wondering if a galka mage is like a nono for finding a group to heal for or DD for?

                  I remember having to have 2 astral rings and some type of pie when originally leveling through the dunes for the first time.

                  Will I still get big galka healer hate?

                    Yea, Galka healer's are fairly nice if done correctly. They just have low MP, but that just means they can take hits, if needed. Elvaan can heal great, so can Galka. Just need more mp management stuff and MP+ Items.
