To each their own. I don't consider leaving a party last minute rude. I do look for a replacement and on rare occasions there is one but most often there is not. I'm not staying until one is there and thats what 99% of the parties want. No one is forcing their way of doing things unto me, when I'm done...I'm done. Simple as that. It's not rude, people just like to make you think that so you'll feel guilty.

This is why I cannot and will not ever level in a party again, I am glad that I did, but now that have bst at a reasonable level it's so much more convenient to just solo level. I don't have to feel guilty to leave a party or wait around for people to get their lunch or go pee all the time.

I wish I had more time to party I really miss it at times, but I'll that to when I need to do missions, my schedule doesn't allow for more. But before I had bst I did exactly what you did, I tried to find a replacement within 20-30 mins of leaving but if there wasn't one I still had to go.

Skillchains being redundant is retarded, I wish SE would do something about that, skillchains were great at one point in time, not to mention fun. ><;;

I used to feel guilty about leaving parties when I couldn't locate a rep, but I'm a PLD and for the most part, the party stops when I leave. So it used to bother me for awhile.

Then one day I said "Hey. Fuck it." -> "{Time Remaining} 20 {minute}" No PLD or NIN in 20 mins? Sorry.

Its actually easier to find a replacement on COR. Just invite a DD, I'm done.

I can't even describe how pissed I would be if I was a party leader and the COR replaced himself with a DD (without advance notice, which is the only way he'd be replacing himself at all; see below). Yes, I know CORs can do some damage too, but if I had wanted a MNK I would have invited one in the first place. CORs are not invited for their slug shots, even at the levels where they actually have slug shot; I know it, you know it, they know it. Or at least they damn well ought to. (This doesn't mean that their damage is useless or that they shouldn't have decent bullets. But a DD is unlikely to be an adequate replacement for them in terms of overall party performance.)

But then, I would never replace myself unless the party leader asked me to, anyway. It's their responsibility to decide who they want in the party (assuming it's going to go on at all) and if they don't want to delegate it they don't have to. I usually don't when I'm leading, because a quite surprising number of people don't know how to use /search and/or don't know how to build a good party and what jobs would actually be useful to replace them, so I get better results picking the replacement myself.

Oh yeah, I forgot what I was going to say about the original thread issues: I blame colibris. Other swarms of kazillions of T-low VT mobs too (underhunting always had the potential to deliver game breaking exp/hr, but unless you were the only party in KRT or Ru'Avitau there just weren't enough mobs to support it so it wasn't as big a problem), but colibris were the extra special slap in the face to parties that tried to magic burst, or use enfeebling magic, or save their TP for skillchains, or even eat food FFS. You might think that having all those annoying as hell abilities would make players avoid them like tonberries or taurus, but unfortunately, none of those abilities will actually kill you and SE also gave them very low HP and piss-poor stats that allow a party *without* food and tactics to kill them *faster* than a good party kills a real mob of the same level.

In short, the rampage-spamming morons next door get twice your exp/hr for *not* trying to work together as a party, so fuck it.

ToAU was the deathblow to team tactics in FFXI, and with every update that passes, I'm more and more concerned that SE either doesn't recognize the damage, has no idea how to fix it, or doesn't even *want* to fix it because dumb DDs are happy and there are a LOT of dumb DDs. (See the poll about favorite roles currently on FFXIclopedia's front page - not only did they combine nuker and enfeebler into one role (WTF?), they didn't even list tank at all; apparently nobody else has noticed. "DD" has about twice the votes of the next highest option - which is "solo".)

Probably people didn't notice in part because they eventually went "oh yeah!" and added that option (which is now second highest at slightly less than half of "DD") -- apparently mere minutes after I openly objected to both these things, which of course meant that people assumed I was making the "tank's not an option!" thing up. "Nuker/enfeebler" is still that way and as screwy as ever, though. -- Pteryx

You would be doing your party more by getting another support oriented class, hint DD's don't have useful buffs. Get a DNC or SMN, or a job that can help the party go smoother, suchs as a hybrid RDM, a BLU, a hybrid PLD, or a SCH. Replacing yourself with a DD is as bad as not replacing yourself at all.

I think someone already hit on it... but, If I wanted a DD I would have chosen one from the 10 jobs that can do it. I hate when people replace themselves with stupid shit that does not help out the situation, especially when its support jobs who rep themselves with jobs that offer nothing in return.

This is my opinion on the "rep yourself" situation.

Once, I had somebody rep themselves with a totally random job, and we had to disband over it. Ever since then, I've wanted party members to let me find the rep myself. But, at LEAST say something. Even if we can't find anything, It's still better to let me know. What if somebody else was trying to leave, and 2~3 people want to go, but don't say anything?

Something I've noticed is that, more often than not, by the time 1 person has to go, usually several people want to go at once, so the party just disbands anyway. I don't recall it used to being like this, so I guess pink birds/Level Synch/Whatever-recent-feature must have changed that party dynamic. It used to be hold-the-pt-together-as-long-as-possible-or-die.

I've done this. I was in a party where I knew I was leaving in 15 mins and I told the leader in /t. He said that I needed to find a replacement. I told him as leader that was HIS responsibility. He started telling me off and I blisted him. I did, for curiosity sake, looked to see if there was another rdm seeking but of course there was not. So I invited a friend who was a dancer to come to the party knowing full well that he might not get in. When my time was up, I told the party, disbanded, and left. A pt member msged me and asked if I had tried to get a decent replacement. I told him it was not my job, it was the leaders and he had ample notice to do so but decided not to. It didn't matter, I was labeled a bitch for not doing it myself. This is just another reason why I hardly have any merits.

He acted like that because you couldn't find a rep on RED MAGE? It's a no wonder JP's just ditch us!

I don't think I have EVER been able to find a rdm rep when my rdm is leaving the pt!
