Should I come back? I cannot decide...
Basically, I used to play about a year ago. I didn't play for that long, but I really enjoyed it. I only quit because of internet issues and the fact I was playing on PS2. Now, having a laptop that pumped out over 7000-H on the Benchmark 3 and America's second fastest LAN, I find myself really attracted to MMOs again. The only problem is that all of my friends have migrated to freaking WoW, and I absolutely refuse to play that garbage. How difficult has it gotten to find a party in FFXI from a year ago? I know as a WAR I could usually find one or two low-level people to group with. I was thinking of starting as a RDM this time to try something different, and I really didn't want to get stuck soloing to level 30. So any insight, folks? Sorry for the wall of text...

In September SE Implemented a Level Sync feature which will allow you to lower your level to match the level of your party. This makes finding parties a bit easier. If you can't find anybody at your level then you can sync down for a few levels so you can get a party and then later on go back to partying at your normal level. Also there is now a newbie quest npc that helps you learn the basics along the way and also earns you a bit of XP as well. SE has increased the amount of XP gained from Easy Prey and Decent Challenge mobs so you get now about 30% more XP from weaker mobs. So if you're gonna come back, this would be a good time for you to do it.Originally posted by The Biles View Post

Trying to decide if i should return myself I played WoW for a month now on WAR for about 1.5 weeks still FFXI is the better I think but still not sure ><

I came back to this game in September from WoW, after getting several characters to 70, one in all Black Temple guild(was there for all the first guild kills) and starting Sunwell, and currently I'm still enjoying this game. Thing you have to remember that has been mentioned is that it requires TIME. Sometimes things go your way here, other times you spend lots of hours doing other stuff, and leveling later on isn't as fast as it is in the 30's and 40's. Still, if you enjoy the game(as I do right now) doesn't really matter.Cleverness - Hades

If that's several 1- or 2-hour blocks, you'll have a difficult time, especially as you get higher in levels. If it's a couple blocks of 3 or more hours, you'll be fine. You won't be the fastest leveler on your server, but you won't be locked out of leveling, either.Ellipses on Fenrir
There is no rush. If you're not willing to take your time, don't be surprised when no one wants to give you much of theirs.

Agreedd in wow i played a really half arsed month on a pld went from 1-54/55
mostly all solo.The thing about WoW and WAR is they seem to revolve around RvR which I thought was great but WoW you get hacked down by ?? lvl players which camp you're dead body and kill in a hit and in WAR which prevents this (by turning you into a chicken) has low populated servers which = little RvR >< may have to come back to ffxi afterall
