  • Question about ffxi+web browser

Coming back (again) after quite a long break (again) My main question is is there any sort of web browser in game or POL wise? Or will I need to use my laptop to search stuff like I used too?

    Thank you for any answers

(I tried using search but it never works wile I am at my job)

Not really: closest thing you have to that is the official windowed mode.

      Google 'ffxi windower'

      Download latest (3.41) version.

Or, use the official (and very gimp) windower by opening the FFXI config tool and checking the box next to 'start in windowed mode' on the General tab.

Does use of the windower count as bannable "third party" crap?

          Re: Question about ffxi+web browser

Technically, it is a 3rd party app making it against the ToS.

Realistically, you will not get banned for using windower because it is impossible for SE to know you are using it unless a) they illegally obtain the information or b) you talk about it in game. Don't talk about windower, it's plugins, or anything related to the unofficial windower in FFXI and you'll be fine.

Besides, if SE really came down with the banstick on players using windower, it'd eliminate a huge majority of PC users hence eliminating a huge amount of revenue for them.

I used to be weary of using it myself. Then I tried and almost hit myself for not using it sooner. Windower is undetectable by SE without them (illegally) reading your system memory. No worries.

p.s. if you're concerned about playing FFXI with a slight advantage over other users, you can download the windower lite version which only allows windowing and de-focusing FFXI; no plugins. But really, windower was coded in mind to not allow plugins to really give PC users a major or noticeable advantage over console users. There's no plugins for position hacking, NM detecting, or any other serious game-breaking advantages. It comes pre-installed with Distance (distance between you and a target), Timestamp (places the 24hr timestamp in front of message in the chat log), LightLuggage (automatically sorts your items), TParty (displays yours and party members' TP and MP as well as a target's HP%), DrawDistance (allows you to enhance the draw distance of the 3D renderer; aesthetic only), and a few others that don't really do much.

I hope this post isn't against the FFXIO.com's rules...
