  • Recovering Content ID's. About the Credit Card...

I would have attempted this sooner, but I've been gone on a very long trip. Anywho, I'm attempting to restore my Content ID after being gone for about three years but I have a few problems, but here's the main part.

The credit card used at that time, which is the main problem, I no longer have. It was lost some time ago, and it was replaced with a new one, but I have a question about it. The card is actually a debit card tied to a checking account which was charged when I played FFXI. I cannot find the particular thread where I found a list of things they commonly check for when validating but I've heard they always ask for the credit card.

Since I don't actually have the credit card, is there any chance they could try and use the checking account number, or some other info related to that account to validate payments from when I stopped paying for the game?

does it have master card, amex, visa on it? I think they changed their strictness on the name brand of CC companies.

I think however they still accept those little 50-100$ visa gift card things, but I am not positive (and I don't think the come in smaller quantities than 50$)

It is a Visa. But uh, I'm not sure what you're getting at with your post?

I'm asking if anyone has tried to offer up their checking account number rather than their debit card number when asked for personal information to restore old content id's.

You can call the bank and they can retrieve the debit card number that was tied to your account. You can try to call SE and see what they will do but I highly doubt you'll get very far. If you do call them, make sure you have the registration codes that came with the game in the instruction booklet to help you prove to them its your account. But I think getting the bank to dig up the old debit card number is a better idea.

Re: Recovering Content ID's. About the Credit Card...

I just activiated my content ID's after a 7 month break. I forgot my password so the questions I was asked by support were as follows..

          Full name (as registered)
          Full address (as registered)
          Date of Birth (as registered)
          Playonline ID (8 digit ID)
Registration code of Playonline (should be in back of your Games booklet 20 digit code)
Credit card used for last payment (first 4 digits & last 4 digits)

If you already know your password then its jsut the case of logging into the support area and change payment details.

I pay with a debit card tied to my bank, there is no problems there. You can use any credit card on their list (theres a pull down menu when you register a new card, I had to as my card had expired that I previously registered with)

The only number you can use would be the long number on the front of your card (in the Uk this is 16 digits), your actual account number (in the Uk this is 8 digits) you can't use.

I was lucky I didn't shred my old debit card (as it was renewed last month) so I could quote it to get my password changed so i could log in.

As for the content ID's themselves, if you are returning like myself, if you just cancelled the payment on the ID's then your characters are still there until you physically delete them.

Well it's been so long, I'm lacking alot of things. I did alot of digging around in the house and out of that all I'd be able to offer them is.

            Full Name
            Full Address
            Date of Birth
            PlayOnline ID
            PlayOnline Password
Registration code of Chains of Promathia (if that'd help)
Credit Card for last payment (I just found it )

            Think that would do?

Keep it handy but I don't think it will help. They will want the base game registration codes. Just contact them and see:

                Aw nutbunnies >_>

Since it's been more than a year they told me I'd have to wait for a Return to Vana'diel Campaign. Didn't even get a chance to give them any additional info other than my ID and name of the account.
