  • FFXI and Direct2Drive

Hello, I've been looking to get back into FFXI for a while now. I kind of live far away from malls, retail, etc where they sell the game and its a 45 min drive to the nearest Best Buy/Target/Gamestop/EB. I tried downloading the game via Direct2Drive and my transaction was declined because they have these odd rules about downloading MMOs... Is there anyway by chance I can download or play FFXI online without having to go to the store? I know it's just being lazy, or has anyone else had experience with downloading it successfully of Direct2Drive?

Nope, there is no other way to legally dl except D2D. Have you looked into ordering an actual disk from Amazon or something? The new Vana'diel collection has the original game and all the expansions all in one, and I think it's only 30 bucks or something?

Besides, finding the game in stores can be a pain. Took me days to find a copy of the WotG expansion in my area cause nobody carried them in my area.

Out of curiosity, what do you mean by "odd rules about downloading MMO's"?

When you order an MMO on D2D you have to go through this weird process if you don't have the email you ISP gave you. Confirming emails and etc for the codes and what not :/. Guess I'll order it off Amazon.

Wow, what a pain. Who actually uses their ISP email account?

Anyways, just saw that VD 2008 collection is only $20 bucks now. I paid twice that for the last expansion alone, and that was like a year ago...

D2D would not let me buy WotG or vanadiel collection in canada (vanadiel collection was approved for sale in canada on their web site. Was a bit of a bummer. I downloaded it of gamestop.com with no problems, key worked but I would of liked an ISO instead of what they send me. Oh well I can always torrent it if I wanted.

I am almost 100% convinced that D2D is a crock. I have never successfully been able to purchase or download anything using D2D, and have yet to meet anyone who has done so. I'm pretty sure that SE set up the download "option" just to shut people up.

I decided that after trying to download the game with 4 different credit cards I'd be wasting less time if I just went to Gamestop. I'm really not sure what luck has to do with it.

We'll considering I had no issues, and you had 4, guess "luck" wasn't on your side.
