Coming back to FFXI, server?

My brother and I are probably coming back to FFXI. I played for a while a few years ago, and I have a rank 5 character whose highest job is WHM at 40. I've never really done anything with the expansions except get jobs, so I'm pretty far behind. My brother never got anything past 5, so he's even more behind than I am!

We're looking for a server that is relatively newbie-friendly. I realise most people playing now have been at it for years and years and have at least one or two or three jobs up at 75 and have done all the missions and have had Sky access for YEARS, GOD, KEEP UP ALREADY. We'll probably be doing as much soloing as we can to get our levels up, but what we're looking for is a place where we can hang out with some cool people in a nice LS, find groups for low- to mid-level jobs as necessary without a whole lot of trouble, and hopefully experience some of the content that's been coming out (I want to see Tavnazia!). I am, of course, happy to help out as I can with my lowbie self! I was very good at WHM back in the day, but it's been a long, long time, so I'll need some practice.

We are old Fairy players, and I still have my character there, but we're willing to pull up stakes if Fairy isn't the place to be. Any suggestions?

I know it's easy to miss the (countless) other threads pertaining to the topic of server choice, so let me suggest:

It does not matter. Generally speaking, all the servers are more or less the same. I'm sure Fairy is a fine server to continue playing on so you don't need to start from scratch.

Though many people do have 75's, sky/sea access, missions complete, ect ect, there are equally as many players still working on accomplishing these aforementioned feats. You are not alone.
