  • Returning player looking for a new home ^^

Hey everyone, I just picked up the $20 anniversary edition and I'm really eager to get back into the game, and more importantly, back into the great community of FFXI. I quit about two years ago, so I'm completely out of the loop with the way things are nowadays I'm sure; then again, I was never really in the loop to start with I guess haha. My highest character was a level 35 DRk, which I was forced to abandon due to RL issues that occured around that time, so I never got to experience nearly anything that this wonderful game has to offer.

Sadly, since I haven't played in such a long time, I lost my old character and everything that went with him =/. I guess that's what happens when you take a nearly two year long haitus though x_x.

Anyway, let me get to the point of the thread . I was just wondering if any of you happened to be part of a friendly, family-style linkshell that wouldn't mind recruiting a semi-newbie, such as myself ^^? I'm really eager to get back into the community again and enjoy the game like I used to. I'm a really friendly person, and I'm always willing to help if I can. I'd love to be part of a LS with the same sentiment ^^.

I've been planning of joining the Asura server since I've heard it has a very nice population, but I'd be willing to switch servers in a heart-beat if it means joining a great, friendly group of people on another .

I'm looking forward to meeting many of you, and I hope to see you around vana'diel soon .

    Sincerely,

    -Sen

Have you checked out The Return Home to Vana'diel Champaign? You may be able to get your DRK35 back. ^_^

oh wow, I had no idea they were doing something like that. It'd be great to get my old character back. Honestly though, I really don't mind starting over again, in fact, I'm kinda looking forward to it. It'll give me the chance to familiarize myself with the game again. Plus, I plan on going with a RDM as my first class this time around vs. the warrior that I went with last time. Of course, getting the old char back, with all of the invested time I put into him, would be great too.

As long as I have some nice people to group and chat with, I'll have a blast either way.

The campaign is ongoing until the end of next February, so you can just level a new character for now and see how you like it--your $20 includes a month of play anyway, so it's no loss for you to take advantage of it.

If in the next few weeks you change your mind, you can then inquire to see if your old character is retrievable or not.

        * * *

S-E probably does not prorate monthly service charge for returning members, so you may want to wait to return until start of a month rather than near the end of it, should you decide to retrieve your DRK35. (Check with its customer service people for details.)

Sounds like a good idea ^^, I think I'll do just that.

Btw, just wanted to bump about the Linkshell. Please let me know if any of you know of a nice linkshell that's recruiting new players. I hate playing the loner x_x.

This thread has a small number of LS's across a handful of Worlds, if you want to have a look.

Instead, I would recommend you return to the World you used to play on, and see if you can get in contact with your old in-game friends, and see if anyone has a social LS which would welcome you to join. Even if nothing turns up on that front, it's probably relatively easy to get an LS just by shouting in the starter cities.

Thanks very much for the link ^^.

I'd go back to my old server if I really had any friends on it to find lol x_x. I honestly never got very involved with the community back when I used to play since I was more of the lonewolf type at that point, so aside from a few people who don't even play anymore, I don't really know anyone on FFXI.

I'm hoping to change that soon though
