Issues with the WBC?

Is anyone else having issues with the WBC (Welcome Back Campaign) Type A registration?

Attempted to sign back up after 2 years of downtime, but when I go to fill out my info it reports back that my POL ID is incorrect, my CoP content Key is incorrect and my POL info is incorrect!

Now Im positive my COP key is correct (since im reading it off the back of my COP book).

Is anyone else having issues with the Type A campaign today?

When you quit the last time, did you delete your POL account?

When I quit, well over 2 years ago, I believe I cancelled my account. I contacted SE awhile back and they say none of my PoL info is available or can be found... Since its well past being inactive long enough for deletion

If you deleted your PoL account, it's probably all gone. Your PoL account was free, you should have left it alone.

I thought type A was specifically for people who lost their POL account through either inactivity or deletion?

You never loose your PoL account. The welcome back campaign is for those reactivating characters that are linked to PoL accounts. When you deleted your PoL account, you asked SE to get rid of all your information. You asked them to completely forget you.

Hm, thanks for the replies, maybe I'm just interpreting the WBC's info incorrectly then. I believe I just let my POL account sit and become inactive, I only cancelled my FFXI content id's, either way I know I cannot log in with my POL info.

I was under the assumption that if your POL account is deleted, the whole point of Type A was to recover the character to a new POL account (since the old one cannot be restored)

Infact, just read the QA again for WBC and type A specifically states:

" Type A of the campaign is aimed for customers who are unable to use their PlayOnline IDs because they have cancelled their PlayOnline membership."

You're PoL account is never deleted by SE, FFXI character info might be. The purpose of the Welcome Back is to bring back characters that were linked with a PoL account.

If you can't log on to PoL, PoL can't help you. That is the piece of info everything is linked to. You'll have to figure that problem out first before anything else can happen.

I'm encountering a similar error, Neithan, and I didn't cancel my POL account either. I think there's a glitch in their system, but the tech support guys don't show up for another half-hour, so I haven't gotten to contact them yet. Given that it's day one of the promotion, I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that it's not working yet.

I think we've diverged from my main issue:

Regardless of my POL account status, I know my CoP key is correct, but it tells me it is an incorrect key when filling out the application, more to the point, is there an issue with the WBC this morning?

Your CoP, Zilart and base FFXI keys are all linked to your PoL ID. If that was deleted, which only happens if you request it, then all those keys become invalid.

If your PoL account is gone, there is nothing that can be done, it is the part that everything links to.

I am SO happy that my little taru is still there.

I used type B and still had my POL account from so long ago. After work Im gonna play my little taru again. Can't wait.

thats... really something I don't get then, why offer type A thats specifically FOR people who have deleted POL accounts?

Type A is for people who still have thier POL ID but have cancelled thier Content ID and are no longer playing.

Exactly how they're differentiating between deleted and canceled I don't know (I know that when I had to take a break I read those screens 20 times before I pressed a button), but I do know that this:
