So yeah I want to start ffxi again. I left back in 06 or w/e, I would play then quit play then quit. But when I did play frequently I got to level 30 and unlock the Samurai Class and had a blast with him and made great friends. Then wow came out, So I left The world of FFXI. Now that I notice that wow was a complete waste of time and nothing but a grind fest I want to return to FFXi.'

I know the basics of the game, so with that being said I could easily solo to level 16 or so by my self with out the hlep of a group.

But the thing I want to know is..... is it nearly impossible to get a single group in the dunes? Is it possible to make any friends in the noob zones anymore? Or will there be nothing but RMT or Japaneses players? Cause I tried making friends in wow and they are all 13 year old trash talkers and that's not fun at all.

So what I'm basically trying to say is should I wait till the next xpac ( Reason why: you know new jobs so the noob zones will be packed) or should I just start the game now and bite the bullet and grind to all the way up to about level 20. And from there will I be set?

Best advice I saw was, Play the Monk class all the way to 30 due to lack of gear and you can save money. Cause everyone knows the monk class can basically get to 30 pretty much naked only needing some decent weps.

2. How is the end-game? And by that I mean is there alot of people doing end game or just sitting around the white-gate dicking around.

3. Is it pointless for me to come back? Like has this game lost it's life and now only home to mindless RMT and or people ebaying characters.

1. Yes, but not always very fast. Depends on when you play, too.
2. No idea, but which endgame activity would you be referring to? Sky Gods? HNM? Dynamis? Limbus? Salvage? Einherjar? (I don't have any personal experience with any, but if you're more specific, then other people should be able to give you more informed opinions.)
3. Pointless? Depends on why you want to come back. Should you return, your experience will largely be dictated by who you hang out with in-game, I suspect.

No one in my LS uses bought characters, for example, but I'm sure those kind of players do exists--I just have no incentives to seek them out. Don't pay much attention to RMT's unless they care competing with over NM, which is pretty rare since I don't like NM camping much.

Population has hovered around 500,000+ accounts for three years or so? While it's not a growing game, it's not hardly a dying game, either--especially with a new expansion pack on the way.

Noice just what I wanted to hear. Oh by end game I mean end game events that is only possible to do at level 75. I've never gotten there but I heard of all this stuff like Sky and sea like you mentioned Dynamis, Limbus and stuff. Like do people still have raids going for that? Or is it like Oh I got all the stuff I wanted so why should I run it again just for you.... kinda situation.

Cause I remember when I was in Jueno when I first played in like 05 everyone was asking for help on these things, then I re joined in late 06 and it was nothing but Merit party shouts.

The reason I like this game so much, is the fact on how deep each class goes. And I love to solo things. In wow you really couldn't do it unless you glitched the mob or you were a hunter. But in ffxi I've seen Drg/Blu, Rdm/Nin, Blk/ w/e, and of course the Bst, solo some really crazy stuff and I want to try at that plus with end game stuff also.

You won't see many shouts for End Game events. Those are mostly done by established linkshells. Except maybe Assault, that seems to be informal enough that sometimes you see shouts for them.

1. Don't be too concerned about not getting lowbie parties in the dunes. Firstly, a search of the area on my server (Bismarck) shows 60 people there currently, 8 of them being party leaders. You can get a party, but some days you might need to wait around longer.

Then again, why would you wanna go to the dunes anyway? Spend most of your Lv 10-20 time soloing while LFG. You'll quickly see, for the most part, soloing will bring in faster exp than joining one of the flurry of nooblet parties.

3. This game is what you make of it. For me, it's surely not pointless. In terms of RMT/cheaters, the problem is much less than what it used to be. SE is really cracking down on RMT, and even in just the 1yr period since I started I've watched the economy reaaaaly level out and become less inflated.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend it over WoW. Though the grind can be tedious in FF, I can always find more than enough to do besides grind. I haven't found much of that in WoW from personal experience.

You will always get a group in this game, party of 6 is just for common, you could duo and get same experience point as a party of 6 if you know the game well. party of 3 is best, but there is always people playing in your range, and this game is base on social and ettiquite, people without these skill are basically castout of FFXI.

As long you love chatting and you willing to take initative, this game is just for you.
