How long to start over?

I figure if I come back, i'm going to have nothing but RA/EX...some mediorce weapons, crappy armor, AF, few event items and such. How long do you think it would take to get about 100-200k to get back on my feet, from fairly tedious farming? and of 45WAR/THF and 37NIN/THF and 37DRG/THF, which do you think would be best for farming, assuming i'm practically barehanded and naked? I'm thinking WAR, since at least that way I have my AF axe.

War/Thf would probably work best. You don't have any crafts lvl'd, do you?
Also, do you have any gil on your person whatsoever? If not, you're going to have to kill a few beastmen in order to get enough gil to put stuff on the AH.
Also depends on what you plan on killing. From what little work I've put into checking what farmables are still selling well, I'd say beehive chips are your best bet. They drop frequently and sell for decent gil still. You can probably get about 3 stacks/hr with TH1. Just multiply that by however much a stack is going for on your server, and you'll have your answer.
Also, is the WAR af axe 1h or 2h? You'll want something with a lower delay, since if you go to North Gustaberg, you'll be cycling through bees fairly quickly and will want something with low enough delay to make it quick, but enough dmg to one-shot them.

It depends really on WHAT you farm. With THF it'll go fast at least, but from scratch it might take awhile.

Hey Feba considering the way Fenrir prices are right now I don't think it would take long for you to get back on your feet, I'd suggest HELM as the best way to get the gil you need.

Also if you kept your seals (or get some while farming) there are many lvl 40 BCs and below you can do for some quick cash.

You can start leveling your beginning jobs again for crystals, beastman seals, and whatever. Just take each one to ten in a way that allows you to share the most amount of equipment. Level one to level 7 is one set of armor, then seven to ten or eleven is another. The weapons vary a little bit, but not by much.

I'd say Dak nailed this one. But...seriously, who needs armor? I mean...it might be a tad more painful, but if you really wanna scrape together the money, do it the gilseller way & grab a set of the lv 1 racial armor. If you have any friends that'll loan you one, get an Aketon. Crystals & CP items aren't all that much, but they'll add up quick. Depending how many jobs you don't have leveled to 10, I could easily see that 100k coming from only this.

TBH I moved from midgard to shiva and created a new char there back in September. A friend loaned me 100k, and by the time I hit level 14 I'd already paid it back and had nearly double that in the bank.

That's one job to level 14, another to level 8 and 3 mules all at level 1. GS to level 8 purely off drops (mainly so I could synth copper ores into stackable ingots). The rest was all done through buying and selling on the AH - relocating merchandise to where it is needed It can be done quite easily, it just takes a little perseverance!

Problem with leveling a job below 10 is I don't have very many, last I checked...most of my jobs are over 10, maybe a few 6-8 though...

I'm thinking WAR/THF farming is the way to go, at least until I get some cash. I figure once I have a little bit I can level my MNK (12-14 or so)

I do have cooking at 38, but after they killed Rabao (and thus, Insect Paste) I stopped using it. Actually, it was damn insulting...I finally got to a level where I could make mithkabobs, and then they make them almost un-profitable! The problem with using cooking as funding is that i'd need cash to start with, plus I can't make much of value anyway.

I already have plenty of BS (go ahead, take that out of context), but I just don't really ever use them for some reason. I suppose I could probably take my gimp BLM to a BCNM60 or something.


I think what i'll do is i'll take my THF out to Gustaburg and farm for that fast dagger, Beestinger I think, get chips and possibly the dagger, then use that thing's speed to harass the hell out of those bees. Is THF/BRD still good for low level farming?

Actually, come to think of it, my BRD could stand to be a higher level...

Unfortunately, I don't remember my levels very well, and on Linkshell Community they just show up as -s. Hopefully this is just because my content IDs are deactivated, and I won't have to go through that Return to Vana'diel crap =/

Yeah, if your stuff's inactive, it just gives you the (-). I had a 5 month break recently and I got the same thing. I could login and see it was still there, and see everybody else, but not my jobs. Sounds like you just need to reactivate the Content IDs and you're good to go.

For farming, it does come down to what you're farming. I used to be able to farm EPs quite easily as DRK/THF. Good damage to kill quick, Drain to keep my HP high, and Aspir if I could find an Aspirable mob. You could use Bloody Bolts (But that costs gil) and Defender to minimize your damage and hope that Evasion Bonus kicks in often. But you should be able to do some pretty decent damage to kill quickly. See if you can get your hands on a cheapo Great Axe. Sneak Attack Sturmwind is awesome!
