Comeback for an oldie? how's the economy!?

Hello there...so i'm thinking about coming back...CC in hand..POL opened up...so uh yeah i have some questions...

1 - first and foremost how is the economy!? i remember(a year ago) all i did was farm, farm farm and farm some more...i hear SE made this um special ops team to get rid of gil sellers, how's that working out?

2 - i'm starting a whole new character..should i get ToA? i hear war/blu is pretty good...

3 - is it easy for someone with no friends this time around? ALL my friends quit FFXI and i remember back then it was hard to be alone..

1) economy is a lot better now. it's starting to return to pre-inflation prices. i dont think it will ever be how it was when NA client was released but it is a lot better now.

2) yes, you should get TouA. lots of great content there as well as great xp zones for lv. 60+ war/blu is not ok. im sure it has its uses here and there but usually the answer is no. (im waiting for some naysayer to whine about being urself and being unique... cmon now you know you want to.)

3) yea im sure it'll be crappy at first but once you pt a bit and get into the swing of things, it'll definitely be ok. i think once you start reaching the upper levels, you should be able to find a ls pretty easily. there's also plenty of chat/lowbie shells too. you can also use the linkshell tool that playonline has provided to get into contact with a linkshell that would fit your current needs.

i dont have the link with me off the top of my head but if you goto the playonline.com website and fumble around, you should be able to find the linkshell tool. it requires a valid pol id and its password to login i think.

1. Economy is on a big deflation ride right now. We'll know more in about a month when the gilselling sites have their big Christmas sales and that money starts to make an impact on the economy, as of right, things are nearly as cheap as they were before ps2 debut. There's still a few items that haven't dropped as much as others, but thats always to be expected.
2. If you're starting a whole new character, then you don't necessarily need a new ToAU right off, but if you plan unlocking the new jobs at 30, then yeah, the sooner the better. You may look for the new Vanad'iel collection '07 with all the expansions and nearly all the updates already on it.
3. Making friends shouldn't be too hard, they're still nice and in some cases necessary, but consider it a chance to make loads of new friends, this time you'll have a clue as to what you're doing though.
