That they are keeping the characters saved for a longer period of time. I canceled my account on June 25th, and just reactivated it yesterday, thinking I was going to have to start all over again, then on my way out after creating my new characte, I got the pleasent surprise that my original character was still there and that I could pick up right where I left off.

From others I have talked to, this hasn't been publicized (sp?) very much. I just think its something that should have been, as it definitely would have motivated me to come back sooner.

Technically, your character gets saved for over a year. It seems odd to me that you were able to retrieve it after 3 months like that.... Usually, you have to wait for the "Return to Vana'diel" program which takes place in the spring if you character has been cancelled for over 3 months.

Yeah well I never deleted the character, I just canceled my "Content ID"

No. They only guarantee by policy that your character will be saved for 3 months, it seems however they do not aggressively remove old data so usually your characters are there much longer then that.

Yeah, I reactivated last August after 6 months. I think the key is the deletion. If you delete your character, you can get it back w/in 3 months. If not, only accounts that were cancelled w/o deleting the characters first can be retrieved.

last feb, i started a new char cuz i couldnt get my old char back. and then in april, i got my old char back from that bring ur char back event, so i cancelled my new char and played my old char. after i got bored in like 1 month, i cancelled it again.

and its 2007 now and i wanna play again, but guess what?? my OLD char is gone (the one that i revived last april) but the gayass new char that i made is still there!!

so yeah, i dont think there is this so called 1year thing.. i believe its just random deletion after 3 months. so if ur lucky, ur char is still there, but if not, its gone
