Returning player?

Hello everyone. I am contemplating a return to FFXI. I played for ~2 years, and left about 3 months ago. I was frustrated with the game in general, it felt like it was a battle to get anywhere from missions and storyline, to XP and earning gil. A BIG part of my leaving was that the RPLS that I was a member of for almost all of my time in VD fell apart and dissolved. I think I am ready to return and start over, new character and all.

Any advice on returning from those that have taken a break before?

RP has remained weak as ever.

If you only left 3 months ago, hardly anything has changed, but for a break, play it slow. Doing missions is like being a shepherd, since almost everyone in the game are sheep. Probably the same deal with gil if you intend to make it through group activities. Joining more than one LS and making plenty of friends is the best way to go if you want to create a personal network of people.

Well, before I was very RP oriented, and I had very few friends outside my RPLS. I hope to get a good Social LS for my Main LS this time through, with some lite RP on the side maybe.
