I loved playing FFXI. It took me probably 2 years to get my blm to 74. I took long breaks everytime I needed some piece of expensive gear. I had fun with the game, and I had a close group of friends who I did all the missions with. Then most of my friends quit, I got involved with endgame stuff, and I hated it. CoP also frustrated me because I would spend hours shouting for help/other people who needed to do them. And never actually get a party together for it. I tried to join new LSs and meet a new group of friends, but I found that people weren't very open to meeting new people. They already had their group of friends. So I eventually just lost interest in the game. It wasn't fun for me anymore.
I want to start playing again though. I miss my little taru. It's been about 8 months since I stopped. I want to get my old character back, but I have a bad feeling I'm not going to be able to. I wouldn't really mind starting over with a new one, except all the money and items I'd be losing on my old one. My question though, how hard is it to start over? For those of you who left and came back, and found your friends gone, was it hard to get back into a group of friends? Are there a lot of low level people still playing or is it mostly geared towards endgame now? I've been reading the forums in Alla, and everyone sounds so frustrated with the game.
