  • Returning - NA Server

I have been away from the game since 04' (looks like I can't get my character back =/) and I was wondering if there is any particular server that has a higher concentration of North American players? The language barrier was always tough before and I'm wondering how it is now... any thoughts or guidance?

All servers are pretty much the same, although I hear Midgardsormr has a pretty high NA population.

Really though, you'll find a mix everywhere.

Midgardsormr and Hydra are your best bets.

I forgot about their completely ridiculous character creation mechanic that doesn't let you choose your realm... nm, I don't think i'm coming back unless I somehow get my toon back. Thank you for the replies, however. If anyone here knows someone working at SE, pimp-slap them please, they badly need to revise their creation/community mechanics.

Actually the character creation limitations are in place for a very good reason: to balance loads across the various worlds. There ARE ways to force a character to be generated on a specific server (WorldPass), so why such a downer? This forum has threads for World Passes, so if you want to be on a specific server... just ask for a World Pass.

This is infinitely preferable to the alternative in other MMORPGs, where some servers are so sparsely populated that you barely ever see anyone, and others are so crowded that you can't walk down a street without bumping into a hundred people.

As for getting your character back, as long as you didn't delete the character and didn't delete your PlayOnline ID, you should be able to recover it.

                Well, a few points.

1.) If you wanted your old character back, you wouldn't have been able to choose your server anyway.

2.) If you have a particular server in mind, all you have to do is request a world pass here on the forums (each server forum has a thread for that very purpose).

3.) If you deleted your character (which is totally unnecessary), why would you expect it to still be there? That said, SE has periodically run a Return to Vana'diel campaign during which they would restore deleted characters to returning players. Give them a call and see if you're in any way eligible if you're dead set on getting your old character back.

                4. World Passes and character deletion are spelled out in the manual.
