  • Back to FF -- but this time a problem with new computer version!

Hello. This week I've returned to FF after a break because my harddrive froze on my PS2 version a year ago. I am now back with the PC version, and even though I've played many computer games before (World of Warcraft being one of those games), I cannot adjust to just using the keyboard / mouse. So, I went out and bought a FF recommended controller. But I ran into a problem here.
Well, I managed to successfully program every button correctly except for one: the directional pad buttons. Instead of selecting targets in the various four directions, my d-pad just moves my screen vision around in each direction. Has anyone figured out the solution to what is to be programed? All I've seen is that tab and the 0 button select people, but not in any specific direction. I've known people who have sucessfully programed their USB controllers to have the d-pad work correctly, but they can't remember the sequence of keyboard commands. If anyone could help me with this, it would be great!
    Thanks for you time!

You shouldn't be manually programming the buttons, you should be setting it up via FFXI Config. There's three different types of movement to set up in the config; menu, camera, and movement. Once you've set up and tested them, and got all your buttons configured, you should be good to go.

I have a wireless Logitech for my PC... if I press the "Mode" button, everything changes to some weird settings. LIke Quanta said, I have mine according to the regular FFXI config, and it works just the same as with my PS2.
